Default low budget

I am starting a new TLT low budget build up. I wont to do this to see how cheep I can build a TLT.

So far I bought a TLT kit from Ultimate Hobbies. Here is a link:http://www.ultimatehobbies.com//p609.html
It was $80.00 shiped.
I also bought a Futaba s3305 servo from my lhs for $40.
Then I went to ebay and picked up a Rooster reversible for $30.00 and a Futaba t3pm 3 channal remote with a r133f micro receiver for $65.00. I also picked up four gold aluminum shocks for $15.00.
So far I have $230.00 in it. It runs but it will not crawl over much.

I talked to one of the guys at my lhs. And he is going to see if we can convert the belt drive in the trans to a gear drive. If we can I will then reconfigue the trans to fit in the chassis.

Any coments or suggesetions would be helpful.

Here are pics of it so far.

wow i almost forgot what a nearly stock tlt looks like. nice job so far but you should try and extend your wheelbase some. you can get links from traxxas cheap.

I have been tossing around the idea of converting the stock tranny to gears as well, it'd make it cheaper to make TLT-crawlers. The other option is simply a chain drive center tranny.

That servo you bought though, what kind of torque specs does it have, since the hitec 645 is only $40 as well I think.

As for a motor, you should drop a lathe or a t600 motor in.

The Hitec 645's are $59.00 at my lhs. Here are the specs on the S3305 Standard High Torque servo With metal gears.
FUTM0045
Volts Torque Speed
4.8V 98.8 oz-in. 0.25 sec/60°
6.0V 123.4 oz-in. 0.20 sec/60°

Dimensions Weight
1.6 x 0.8x 1.5 in. 1.6 oz.

I have tosted two of them on my TXT. But they work just fine on the TLT.

I just put in a lathe motor this morning. $20.00 + shipping.

I have been very busy. I have not had time to work on any of my trucks. I did stop in at Northland Hobbies up in Flagstaff. And said hay to doubledub (Sean) yesterday. He hooked me up with the parts to build a pede trans for my truck for a kick @$$ price of $45.00. And this morning we got to gether and went crawling with are 2.2's.

I will hopefuly have some time to work on the low budget TLT this next week. I think all I am missing are the drive shafts at this point.

Looks good, but is the output drive waaaay up top? I can't really tell because of the darkness of the pic, but I think it is. If so, I would definantly change that.

Very cool. I thought about doing a tranny setup like that, but was always afraid the drive shaft angles would be too much.

Thanks, The angle may turn out to be too much. But I can make the rig longer to comp for that. Or I mite just cut the trany a little more to let it sit a bit lower.

Looks good so far, but have you thought about laying the tranny on its side to get your CG down lower? Like Ponitiac puts it "Wider is Better". Just a thought. I think that is how I am going to build my next one.

also ur gunna have to move those link mounts in moreon the alxe. the key is to have either the uppers OR lowers triangular, and the opp parallel. Unless ur running a double tri, but in order to do that they have to come together at opp ends of the rig. I had mine like urs at first, and didnt work worth a crap.

Ok, time to stop playing with this. You guys saw my basic idea. Now its time to design the side plates and servo mounts/uper link mounts.

Yes, that is to much angle on the drive shaft. And I am go to change the link mounts on the diff's along with difrent side plates.

Thanks for all the comments and complements from every one.

I think the S3305 is a far superior servo. I've run them in all my TLT contraptions and never had any problem. They are not as strong as the 645 in toque but more than make up for it in durability. I even ran one on my TXT. Though I did miss the added torque of the 645 in the TXT. It held up where as the 645's did not. I think the quality is just better in the Futaba unit.
