Just thought I'd throw these up here. I picked up a new body, T-Maxx Jeep CJ8, yesterday. When I got it home I noticed my wheelbase was just a little short to really give a scale look (11.5" wheelbase). So what do you do when you truck is just a little short? Extend it So my TLT now hase a wheelbase of 12.75" and just a hair under 4" of center clearance. I had to fabricate some new sliders, so I used brass tubing that fit snugly over the Stampede sliders, then used 4/40 screws to run directly through the sliders to keep them from slipping. I then dremeled the left over pins down so they were nearly flush with the brass tube sidewall. When these sliders die, I'll probably switch to E-Maxx sliders or figure out a better way to make longer Stampede sliders (they are nearly double the length of stock). I'll have pictures with the body on by tomorrow night. My dremel ran out of juice so the battery is charging right now.

Right on!! I am doing a stretched tlt too. Mounting up a TJ body, I'm at 12.75 right now but buy tomarrow I see 13"s in the end. When I put the traxxes tranny in I lined up the spur with the stock hole and got to cut of alittle over a 1/2" off the bottom.

What did you do for sway bars?? I know it is going to be an issue with my set up. The way I have it set up it needs them to work like predicted.

Are you talking about the links or actual sway bars? I'm not using any sway bars, but the links are all T-Maxx turnbuckles. I have 106mm on the bottom and 116mm on the top. I relocated my link brackets which is why the top links are longer. My chassis is also 3/4" longer than stock, which gives a little extra length.

I thought I seen a sway bar in one pic, my bad. It was the servo wires or something. :? I am going to try mine with out first of course than I will see. I like your CJ8 body. I didn't think it would fit. I see it is a good fit. Let us all know how stable your rig is. The trouble I have been having is staying somewhat scale and have it work good and stay low at overall highth.

Dude, You should pick up some wheel wideners from www.inetrc.com they will add 1.5" to the width of your truck and make it much more stable at longer lengths. The run about $40.00 for a set of 4. Here are a few better pictures of my truck.

Bigger tires is the only way to get more ground clearence under the axles but for under the chassis you need to extend the links (wookie uses traxxas linkages i think, you can also make your own out of 4-40 all thread and break line) and get some longer shocks. But i would get some bigger tires before you do the lift because with the lift you have to get a new dogbone or go the pede tranny way. Plus all the ground clearence under the chassis will be useless if you get your axles hung up on every little rock.

Hey wookie, I had to use your lower link mounting idea. I really like the fact it gives you almost no hang up spots under the axle. It also eliminated the axle turn in ( wheels coming together when flexed side to side) and stretched the wheelbase a little bit. Great job with that idea!
