Ok, I know this has been run into the ground but I can't seem to find the info I need in a search. I know most people run and 84ish spur and a 12-5pinion. But I can't find the brand or anything. I have a 66T spur that rubs the yokes on the pede tranny so I went to Tower to order a new spur and pinion but I don't know what to get. I want the 84/12 setup but don't know what brand or for what model tranny to get. Please give me any advice you can.

it sounds like you're running 32 pitch gears. switch to 48 pitch (smaller teeth) and you can go up to an 84 tooth with no problem. 84 is the stock spur gear on the Pede so you're good to go. then all you need is a 48 pitch pinion of your choice and you're set. be sure not to use Tamiya pinions or spurs as they're metric pitch and incompatible except with each other. |

if you go with 8t pinion and a 64t spur, you get a reduction of 8. if you go with a 12t pinion and an 84t spur, you get a reduction of 7. i'd stick with the 32p spur, but get an 8t pinion. having higher numbers of teeth doesn't matter if they both increase proportionately. it won't work out in your favor for 48p gears unless you go with a 10t or less pinion, or a larger spur. that may be difficult w/ 48p teeth... |
