It is a billet transmission from Fast Lane Machine. Find one on eBay or Rc-monster.com. The machine work is incredible, and the tranny case is similar in weight to the stock plastic one but without the slop. It is VERY nice CNC work, but pricey.

That thing is pimp. Very different. Why don't you use a tamiya pajero body, or something not so hard to find? Have you already glued the tires down? If not, you might want to do some diesel or marinade softening (check out the tires forum for more info) since I've heard the BFG tires don't hook up too well.

That thing is super sweet! Are you intending this to be a crawler or a basher?

I'm aiming for more of a trail rig/basher than a dedicated crawler. The diffs are fully locked and I'm going to gear it low, but my primary aim is realism. I was getting too much articulation out of the original link design so I had to come up with this setup, which uses only enough traingulation to limit side to side movement, but not articulate like crazy. I wanted to keep the stock wheel wells on the body.

PWT, I agree with your point about the body. I will be running it with another body most of the time (HPI Morris Mini).

My biggest design flaws right now are in the short wheelbase and compact links. WIth my suspension mounted the way it is, the link mounts will catch on everything. I will be using tapped aluminum round stock for the lower links instead of the 1/4" link mounts. The driveline is also pushing it a little, as the drive shaft angles are a hair shy of 45 degrees :?

This thing is so sick!

Your link setup is very cool, same with the touring shocks. Very neat.

Just inspired me to make a rig like yours!

Can we see some action shots?

Update, 10/23/05...

-Installed Transmission and Lathe Motor. Locked center diff. Needs new 32 pitch spur gear.
-Modded and isntalled Jato shafts. They are shortened to 1.1 inches per side. They also have the yokes cut and beveled to allow for the very steep drive shaft angle of the truck to work, (sorry for the crappy pics). With the short wheelbase, I've had to push my limits. There is NO cogging or interference from the driveshafts. I know that they are very high. My solution will be to tilt my axles 10 degrees and lower my ride height 1/8".
-Installed standard 645 mg, body mounts, etc. Still waiting on my battery pack. I'll be running a Mini-T pack soon.
