Default Project Recycle- 1.9 class TLT

I have a ton of old parts laying around from old comp builds. With the creation of the new 1.9 class I figured I would build something useful from my piles of parts and broken rigs. Here is what I have scrounged so far for parts.

TLT axles with Fatrock C's and RCP Knuckles
SW3 Chassis
Handmade skidplate
AX10 tranny
Undisclosed motor (sub 500 size)
Sidewinder or Mamba Micro Pro ESC
Battery dependent on motor requirements
Waypoint servo
Cliff Climber body

I need to get tires cut up and some beadlocks to keep it under 8" width. This will be very interesting to compare against the Losi. Light and nimble VS heavy and thick.

First I start with the links and shocks. I have started with the rear lower links- they are old bits from the TLT kit. I might use a 3 link with panhard on the rear. Front shocks can stay, rear shocks will be swapped for some old buggy fronts.

I don't know which I will compete with yet, but I will have both the Losi and the TLT to drive and decide!

I agree the TLT is the way to go. Just got my 1.9 tuber back from the builder. Just watching your build, maybe pick up a few ideas.

Made some progress last night. Narrowed the rear axle to accept short side shafts on both sides. Track width is now a hair under 8" with Vanquish SX wheels. Front will be modded to have short side CVDs on both sides.

Also cut and shut some proline Hammers. I may need to sipe them a bit, depending on vehicle weight. Stock memory foam in front, Stock normal foam in rear, sectioned to be proper width.

Currently have a Cobalt Puller 454 mounted in there. The Cobalt 500 won't mount in this chassis with my adapter plates (without moving the tranny a hair), as it makes the motor too long for the SW3 chassis. I will need to cut out the skid plate to clear the driveshafts. I will probably get a DNA motor plate so that I can mount up the smaller Puller motors without hassle. Probably gonna run a small high discharge 2s lipo, like the 20C PolyRC 800mah packs or maybe the 1100 15C cells that CBP carries now.

The indoor course is perfect for these. Of course by the time hard winter hits I should have enough rocks in my basement to put on a course too

i like it so far, im gonna keep an eye on this one, i really like the cobalt 454.
the only problem im having building my 1.9 TLT is making room for the motor/trans. having a 540 motor in it is really limiting me on upper link locations. im working on finding a chassis that will fork for me, but im really leaning towards the 454. if i could find a motor that is shorter than a 540 (don't know the length comparison between the 454 ad a 540) it would make life a lot easier for me.

The 454 is just a smidge shorter than a 540. Not enough to make a huge difference. Most of the difference is in the diameter. I chose the Bender chassis so I wouldn't be too limited on space.

Looks great John. TLT's 4-ever!

I have been thinking very similar to you. But for a motor, I have all these revolver 1's laying around with mamba 25's attached to them

small, light and plenty of power for a 1.9'r. Now to get the tlt axles narrowed up. Did you take pics of that or is it the same as Nluv's?

Same as Nluvs reduction, but I just used two short side shafts instead of cutting down the long side. Basically pop the short side shaft in the diff, then cut the housing where the clip groove is. I will take pics of the front axle when I modify it today.

Love it!

I narrowed my axles the same way. Works great with CVD's also.

Are the pics done yet?

This makes more sense to do it your way. Can't wait to see them

John did you narrow your axles or do your wheels have enough offset?
I agree TLT's will rock 1.9 and that puller should get the job done with power to spare.

he narrowed his axles, it allows a lot more wheel/tire options.
