|  TLT stock tranny mods
Has anyone changed the stock belt drive tranny over to gear drive. I don't even have my tlt yet but am thinking about using a pinion gear on the input shaft and a big spur gear on the shaft for the outputs wich would really lower the gear ratio. Just wondering if anyone has done this before me that I could get advice from.

the main two things ive seen done to the tlt's tranny is eather a belt tensioner OR switching to a stampede tranny and ditching the belt all toghether

it would be a very large waste of time to try to convert the stock tranny to gear drive. You can easilly just drop in a stampede tranny with very little modification. Your idea might work but think the gear is round to the taller you make it the wider you make it so yeah you could do it but you would have to cut holes in the chassis for the sides of the gear to stick out of. Plus you would have to fab up a way to hook the outputs to the spur gear which would be more work than just droping in a stampede tranny. the only mod i made to my stock tranny before i switched it with a pede tranny is modding the stock outputs so they would accept traxxas slider shafts. After that i realized it wasnt worth going threw all the crap with the belt and just droped in a pede tranny. scroll down and you can find wookies write up on how to install one.

I have a new locked tlt tranny never run with hpi tensioner. I would do a pede tranny if you can. Pm if you want the tlt tranny, I make you a great deal. free!!!!!!

Oh hey, its cool I understand. I didn't realize that was the case. I just need to find someone with those parts so I can get my TLT running again.
