| Which springs for TLT-10 crawler with Traxas Big Bores
Hey everybody, my TLT-10 is almost complete, but I want to use a set of Big Bores left over from my Maxx. (I sold it to build a crawler ) I can't find soft springs for them. Does anybody know of softer than stock springs that will work for those shocks? Right now I am using the stockers, but the truck sways back and forth a lot. Plus I blew all that money on the BB's and I'd like to put them to use. Thanks for any help. |

I too have that same problem. No matter hard stiff of spring I run, it still just flops over when I turn. I had some luck angling my shocks inboard a bit, but I have actually been relinquished to trying out sway bars. Third set already and I almost have it perfected.

Don't mount your shocks to your links, that will help. I use losi yellows on my truck. I set the preload a 1/4 lower on the back left (rear drivers side) shock to help compensate with torque roll. What shock oil are you using? |

Yeah, my stock shocks are mounted from the axles via the included brackets to a hole I drilled halfway between the two chassis cross braces. I went with 20 wt oil, thinking it would provide max articulation. PWT's, you're saying that you are using those Losi's on Maxx shocks with good results as far as articulation is concerned? Those are a half inch shorter and half pound lighter than the Maxx springs as far as I could find. I take it you just put half inch spacers in so they don't have any slop. The extra preload spacer is a good idea. motiracer, swaybars!!?? :P It's just that usually with the 1:1 crowd, that's one of the first things to go. I'd like to see some pics if you have them. Thanks for the feedback guys. |

i use traxas rear stampede springs on all four corners of my tlt-1 with a small stretch. on the tlt-10 we run the big bore reds, but the shocks(for now) are angled back a large amount. peter |

I am using hot bodies shocks. I think they are like 3.5 or 3.75" long with 25wt losi oil. Works great for me, just enough to keep the tires on the ground when fooling around and enough to keep it planted on the rocks.

Heh I use stock HPI nitro MT springs with big bores running (?) oil. Hell I think they have oil in them?

PWT, thanks for the advice, the Losi yellows are a nice fit on the Big Bores. Like you said, plenty flexy but more stable than the stock gold crappers. No more floppy floppy, just a little twitch to the side. I had to mount them away from the chassis a little farther than normal in order to clear the lock washer on the cross brace, so the tires rub the spring a little when fully turned and flexed. No biggie from what I can tell though. Thanks again. |

I like using Associated shocks, associated has many more spring options and theyre alum not cheap plastic I like the black spring mostly but somtimes i will use green with 10wt oil and rpm pistons yeah i now theyre kind a gimmicky but they do give more little more flow in the rebound! I use the white ones heres a tip I learned racing use Yokomo shock caps on assoc shocks they have a little screw on the top to bleed oil so you build shocks much more consistantly! My shocks are super dialed, crawling and racing! |
