| How To Put Pede tranny in stock tlt-1 chassis
ok so lots of people have wondered how to do this so i thought i'd post this. This requires no cutting of the chassis Tools Needed: Angle grinder or Dremel Utility knife or exacto knife First take the grinder or dremel and shave down the tranny to desired width Then mount the tranny in between the 2 frame peices *Please note that the chassis bars are wider but are included with the kit* |

Thats exactly how I did mine almost a year ago. Mine is the exact same width as stock. edit: Well, my Stampede came in... (56K Warming) Last edited by thefordmccord; 01-01-2006 at 07:08 PM. |

Yeah, it works pretty well. I remember sitting at the work bench and thinking "what's the simplest way to do this". I have thought about going with another chassis, but this still works so well.

dont forget to take your 1inch off the bottom if you doin it like thefordmcord's. I'm runnin the stock chassis setup with the pede tranny and it's workin great so far I did a build up on another site. here's my hardcore chassis bluebrints http://tinypic.com/dm63hi.jpg |

Now just dremmel out the side of the chassis 'slightly' and lay your tranny down.

the whole benifite of this is that it is a low cost alternative to buying a 65 dollar plus chassis

I just cut my tranny mount/ skid plate from a piece of .250 aluminum bar. It's thick enough to drill and tap the sides so you can screw it to the chassis

I did my first tlt the same way(works really good) then built a laydown,its really close performance wise the laydown is just a little better but a well setup tlt hack chassis is hard to beat

Sorry no pics. Maybe in a few days. This is my first attempt at doing a tlt and I am taking my sweet ol' time. I have to do the battery tray and some steering links, then I will do some picts. The body is going to be something different, so it will be a while longer.

nice.... i dont think i have seen a laydown stock chassis... thats cool... one suggestion make the drive shafts to where the long female is on the pinion of the axle... so rocks dont get hung up on the lips of the male u joint.

They are 1/4 x .049 t-6 tube tapped for 8-32 all thread. I used 5MM jato ends. The lowers are 110mm from eye to eye in the rear and 98mm in the front. I just made the uppers long enough to get a decent pinion angle once I decided on the ride height. The 32mm wideners should help to keep it upright.
