Default My first tlt -backyard basher-

I bought myself a tlt for christmas and ran it stock for about an hour. Then I preceded to hit up EBAY. I built the 4-links out of plastic coat hangers. They are soft enough so they aren't brittle and hard enough to hold good threads. I just cut them, drilled and tapped the ends, and used threaded rod. 3300 mah pack on the front links
stock tlt trans (must go)
540 motor
9t pinion 9x tooth spur (can't remember exactly)
locked diffs including center

I need to change the steering linkage, narrow the wheels, get some moabs (these are cool for just bashing around but I want softer), may get some wideners, and need to get shocks. Also planning on going to traxxas shafts. All-in-all it's really fun.
anyway - on to the pics.

looks as thought he cut the stock ones in half and used a small rod or roll pin to secure them together.... if this was about pede shafts i can GUARENTEE that it would turn to the gutter

Also what is on the top of the rear axle that wires are running to.... i cant figure it out.

The driveshafts were cut in the middle and I weldes a section of brake line in. Yes that is the on/off switch on the rear axle (easy to get to). I thought I might have problems with it hitting things and turning off but so far so good. I added a little to the body tonight.(also plastic coat hanger) It's all held together with screws.

Yes I just heated them. It took a few bends to get them to look good, you have to heat it pretty slowly to get the plastic soft all the way through.

Default Update!!!

I got rid of the 2 shocks per wheel and put on some alum. body shocks (much more control and smoother handling), added rear steer, and best of all MOABS. Man, these tires are great. I got a TQ3 off ebay to run my rear steer yesterday and put it all in last night. I also made some rock rings out of old cd's. (more $h!t laying around) I resound an old motor I had laying around to a 55 turn. between the new-found traction and motor that just won't stop, the tranny belt has got to go. next thing added will be a tranny.

roll-overs aren't a problem. I can pick the truck up by either bumper with no problems. A freind of mine thought the roll cage would be flimsy but I had the body off of it last night and my dogs decided to play tug of war with it and still didn't hurt it.
