i have a solution to the tlt 1 ring and pinion stripping problem. Just put a thin wahser on the axle shaft to push the diff closer to the pinion. After going through around 6 sets of gears i realized what the cause of the problem was and this is the fix that i came up with. Just an idea that some of you might want to try if you have the same problem.

Can you shim the pinion towards the ring gear? Just like a real r&p set up?

Bender, I have bearings. I noticed that there is some play in the pinion. I tried to shim it so that it was closer to the ring gear but it was too tight. I may need to find a thinner shim.

I have broken many drive shafts and stripped several hexxes but have had no trouble with my gears. I shimmed the pinion into the ring during assembly and haven't had a problem yet.

I hanen't stripped any gears yet but noticed that when you turn the axle on one end, it rolls smooth. When you turn it the other way, it's not as smooth. I shimmed one axle and when I did the other, it was a little stiff. I used a piece of the thin washer that comes with the spare r & p parts.
