Default TUBER build up...........I-Hobby

So I received this tuber from "cuban b", a member on the board here. This is the original thread............ playin with my tube....

So far I have completely torn it down and stripped all of the paint except for on the body panels. The bushings in the axles have been replaced with bearings and I added blackfoot stubs to the front. I locked the pede tranny and installed a new metal gear. I also remade the upper and lower link mounts. Pics tonight! I am planning on driving this Saturday & Sunday at the I-Hobby show in Chicago.

Plans:
Super Rooster
55t lathe
Same wheels and tires pictured
Redo some of the cage
new paint (either dark grey hammered or stainless steel)
front dig

Here is some pics, getting ready for new paint. I am either going with dark gray hammered, or a stainless steel looking color. The body panels will stay the same color as in the first pics.

Just primer for now

Before you paint it, you need to hit those welds/brazes with a grinder or something, smooth them suckers out!

I'd look for a color that you can find a paint marker for. That way you can touch it up later easy. I'll see you at the expo on sunday.

Now THAT is a cool tuber. Most tubers I see look rediculously proportioned between the chassis and the tires. Yours actually looks like the tires are the right size for that chassis. I wish I saw more like it. Obvisously there are compromises you make by having a full sized tube chassis, but I would rather have it look right and I think you hit the head pretty well. The best part though is that it works well for you. Congrats!!

I crawled with it all weekend at the I-hobby show in Chicago. It did very well and surprisingly nothing broke. Noel and I ended up adding some weight to the front axle and adding some zip tie limiting straps.

Some changes that need to be made are:
-more, permanent weight to the front.
-bigger foams in the tires
-stiffer shocks on the front

I may try to lower the ride height some also. Be on the look for some cool stuff from tekin, www.rcpcralwers will be carrrying it. I got to use one of their new speed controllers at the show "mini rage". All I can say is wow, the drag brake on it is awesome. With some more tweaking with the programming, this will be excellent. I will be getting one

I agree, that thing looks awesome. The proportions are perfect. It's sweet to see a comp style tuber that still has a scale appearence. The updates look awesome.
