| Pics of my low dough TLT now Rebuilt lay downTLT
Sorry I have a real cheep digi cam so close-ups will not work to well I will try my best to describe what mods I made. Used traxxas rustler axle and output cut the stock output down then used jb weld to place a nut in the hole where the dog bone would go to screw the traxxas output into. This shows the bolt head to the belt tensioner it is the screw head that is low and almost under the spur gear. This got rid of the belt slipping This shows the bushings used for the tensioner I used the bushings from the cantilever bars for the shocks and the shaft for the cantilever mount as well it was a good fit between the tranny plates. The bushings are the brass things under the motor. I had to cut the tranny plates down a lot to make the small pinion fit to get the torque I wanted the pinion is a 12 tooth. To triangulate the axle I used the stock stuff just mounted it on the outside of the frame. Let me know what you think this is my first build and feel free to ask any questions. Not to bad. But the center of gravity must be horrible with the stock tranny. What bady are you going to use?

Aside from the usual ILRCRC spelling and grammar lessons, a couple of things: The stock tranny's probably going to start slipping/skipping about halfway through the first pack. Nothing you can do about that, it's just what they do. Grit your teeth and start saving for a Pede tranny. The stock shocks are weaker than ILRCRC's ability to spell "body", but you've got 'em on there now so I'm sure you know that. I'm sure you've noticed the gangsta lean and you're wondering what you can do to get rid of it: ditch the shocks and spend about a month playing with spring rates and shock oils. While you're at it, drill some new mounting holes and relocate them to a lower position (higher on the chassis) to lower the ride height some and incline the shocks a little more. The stock chassis doesn't make for a very good crawler base. That's why there are so many alternatives here. Overall, you've taken the first step. It's together and running. Reminds me of my first build just over a year ago. You're going to spend a lot of time and money getting it right, and probably end up tearing your hair out, but it'll grow back. | breaking belts
Well after breaking 2 belts and trading for a tlt with a pede tranny I will never waste any more time or money on a stock tlt tranny again. The pede tranny is worth the money and the wait to get one.

| the coffin mod. for stock TLT chassis.
Here it is, the coffin modification for a stock TLT chassis. All it is is bending the ends. The chassis was first widened to accept the pede tranny. Then the front and rear ends are bent back to stock width.I did it in a vice not bolted down ie hand held, without measuring. like Billy Lane, just used the old eyeball method. But it bends right at the step cuts of the chassis.Kinda looks like a coffin, and sounds edgy.also i had cut about an inch of the bottom .Thanks for looking. coat hangars and the hardware store for bodyposts.realsneezy. washers from the hardware store .can you say rockring? I knew you could. |
