Default Bulu 2 Laydown frame

Ok that's the current version.

It perform quite good. I'm very happy with it, but I can't leave it as it is if I think something could be improved.
There's nothing new in a laydown frame, but I haven't seen a laydown Bulu yet ;)

I obviously have to mod the frame, but I don't wanna change the geometry as I love it as it is. So I start with a plastic plate to check if it is doable.
It is

Side Before

Side After

Front before

Front after

The motor is out from the frame on the right side reducing the torque roll even.
I'd like to have the tranny more centered, but I had to place it like this due to some shafts hits while articulating and I didn't want to rebuild anything but the frame.

Now the suspension geometry is identical to the prev version, but the CG is very lower.
Next step is to build the parts in alloy ;)

What do you think?

1badjeepbruiser Do you mean the NARROWED beadlock rims ;)
Crawlsalot Let me build it man
I have to replicate the parts in alloy before I go on the rocks. That plastic won't last a lot crawling ;)

Very Nice! I need to do something like that for my next build.

I need to get my motor and trans to lay as low as posible.

I found some time to continue the work on the frame.

First I built a couple of lower cross member. The lower links balls will keep them in place.
The other tapped holes will support the skidplate.

Inside the frame (still a plastic plate on one side)

Then I cut out a rough dimensioned plate from nylon. Thickness is 8 mm

Trimming at the right size.

Milling one of the slot for the cross members.

Completed without holes.

Cross members fit ;)

Tranny is mounted.

In the frame.

Then I built the missed sideplate out from a 3,2 mm alloy plate.
The plate in front of the frame is the original Bulu 2 plate.
The plate needs attention cause I haven't had enough time to complete it, but I can assemble the rig now. The black marker signs are the parts I wanna remove to low the weight and to make the look match with the left plate
I'm happy and can't wait to test it.

These are the temporary tranny upper mounts. I don't think I actual need them, but they contribute in the chassis rigidity especially with the huge cut I need in the right plate.

What do you think? ;)

Are You Running Your Motor Backwards Before The Transformation The Can Was Facing Forward, Now It's Facing The Rear? Just Courious Cause I Just Made A Laydown Chassis Based Of Of My Bulu2.

Sweet Laydown setup. Could I ask what model of medal connectors/links you are using for the sliders on the tranny side and on the axle side? They look the same so that would be 4 right? And did you have to modify them? I apprecite your time and cosideration.

LIKES2CRAWL - Yes I'm running the motor backwards. I'd preferred to have to motor on the right side to help the torque roll issue.

nd4 - If I was confused I was a LOT since i mounted even the 40/60 links and shafts in the wrong position

bvek - Do you mean these? ;)

run2jeepn - Thanks
