Default As little chassis as possible

Had a guy, scale crawler, ask me to build him a chassis. He wanted it to be as minimalistic as possible. It is made of 3/16 inch 6062 aluminum. Not quite a roller, but close.

What do you think?

I don't know why, but when I first saw these pictures, they looked like pics of a TTT truck! Must be the focusing or something.

I will have to say that if he was wanting a minimalist chassis in a standard tranny mount configuration (non-Grover), then you have succeeded. It's a very simple and very tidy looking chassis. It appears as though it would also be quite sturdy, since it's one piece, correct? What does it weigh?

HA! It won't be to you in time then for the comp, where I plan to show NO MERCY!!

I really like what you did on Joe's chassis, RD400. I haven't a lot of time to look at it, but it looks to be a very well thought out design. I'll be interested in seeing how this new minimalist chassis works out.

Funny Dez, don't know if I will be making many of these. The cost would be BIG! I already have 18 hours in it, got about 12 more till its done. Good challenge though.

I hate weight! If it isn't doing something, shouldn't be there.

I shaved over an once off the XL4 by replacing the aluminum body post w/ delrin and shortened them over an inch. Then added "speed" holes to the body backing plates. Chassis is now 3.8 ozs.! Adding Revo (3 inch) shocks to it to make it a belly dragger and get the weight as low as possible! Saturday is the comp, I'll let you know how it works!

Im liking it! New chassis designs for shafties is good. Looks nice and stout, but lightweight too.

You could get crazy with this concept.

I'm not done! Carbon fiber is on the way! All the links will be CF! And the tranny plate/skid are going to get "worked" on. Drill press w/ be here by the end of the month! Ready to crawl right now w/ the pretty body, decals, rock rings, aluminum links and weighted tires. 77ozs!:?

That is a clean little chassis rd400. The front edge of the chassis has a nice smooth lip... I could also see those outer links being slot mounted like the top ones to further limit hang ups.

nice, although as much as I mess about with my links I could never pull off such a clean look.

Which Revo shocks are you going to use? I have been looking for 3 - 3.5" shocks and could not find any Revo's under 4".

all revo shocks are the same. I think he is referring to the travel, not the eyelet to eyelet measurement.

I got them today. Just ordered them off e-bay. $12.99 for the threaded plastic 3 inch Revo/Jato shocks. They are much larger in circumference then the Max 4 inch shocks.
