Default My stock (kinda) chassis laydown TLT

I think I have finally reached a point with my TLT that I am happy with. ;) However I won't be sure of that till i get to test it out. Of course it rained all day today on my day off:-(

Anyways its a Stock chassis, although very cut up and widened to 3.25"
pede tranny
55T Lathe
pede shafts
6-32 threaded rod with brake line over them for links
Moabs on narrowed HPI rims
Junk ESC
TowerPro 955 Servos

I need to get some different screws for the tranny.

I really wanted to use this big Bronco body, but its just too wide and would require lots of cutting, or mounting it really high:-(

Looks cool, Nice job on trimming the stock chassis.

The only thing I can see is you should stand the shocks up more or you'll most likely have a nasty case of torque twist.

but give it that much needed test drive.;)

ya I kinda expect to have too much torque twist. I have room to stand the rear shock up more. I am just waiting to change it untill I get a chance to test it out.

I've had a couple chances to test it out today. It crawls pretty well. Although i definatly need to do somthing about the bottom piece of aluminum, and screws. They hang up on every thing. I also need a better speed controller. i'm using some old Duratrax that I got with the Stampede i bought for the tranny. Its hard to be smooth with the throttle, the SC likes all or none. Also the dual servos aren't happy with it.

The shock laying down like they are don't seem too much of a problem. On the rock I didn't experience much torque twist.

Overall I'm glad i decided to cut up the stock chassis and not buy a pre made one.

Heres a pic from today of me and SpeedSport22

Ya i bent the lower 1-1 1/4" of the chassis under. I was origionally going to cut it off, but decided to bend it first and see how I liked it. Origonally I had the tranny mounted standing up with the chasis at stock width. Laying the tranny down and remounting the electronics really improved its off road abbility

Default Looks Good

The crawler looks great I am just curious as to how you did your drive shafts, What are they off of? I built a TLT crawler and had a hell of a time with the drive shafts. Especially the front one. Here is a pic any help is much appreciated.

How would you have attached the side plates to skid plate without bending lower part of side plates?
