Default Losi White Spring Question

Based on Bender's advice, I ordered some "white Losi springs" for my SW2. My shocks are aluminum T/E-Maxx big bore shocks. The red springs that came with the shocks are way too stiff. Anyway, I searched Losi's site, came up with only one "white" spring, and ordered it. Here's how it was described: Front/Rear Springs, Soft, White (4): MLST (LOSBO955). They came yesterday and I was surprised to see they were a good 3/4" or more shorter than the red maxx springs. No problem, I just slap on some of the plastic collar/spacers to take up the slack. I fill the shocks with 10wt oil (Bender recommendation).

I compressed the shock and was surprised when the springs wouldn't even return the piston to its normal position. Did I order the springs Bender referred to in his post? I looked at the pic of his "current" setup and couldn't tell if his Losi white springs were as short as mine. Does Losi make another white spring? If so, I'd appreciate any info on where to buy them.

From what you described, it sounds like you got the springs for a Mini LST. No way they would be strong enough to hold up a 1/10 scale truck.

So what's an available substitute for the Losi whites?

The springs you are looking for are part # LOSA5147. They are currently out of production, but the Horizon site lists them as being available again in September. A close substitution is the Losi yellow springs (part # LOSA514. They are in stock are are just slightly stiffer. I'm currently running the Losi yellows and find them too soft - way too sensitive to torque twist. I'm thinking of going back to the Traxxas red.

I ran down to my lhs and found some Associated "rear racing" springs. I bought 2 black springs (1.74#) and 2 green ones (1.9#). They fit over a maxx shock body at the lhs store so they should fit. I'll give them a try tonight.
