Default Future TLT Build.

Hello, i am going to start to purchase gear for my future TLT build up. Im going to try and go for scale. But I do want optimal performace as well. Here is a list of everything im going to purchase off tower.

- Pro-Line Moab 2.2 Tire Front/Rear (2)
- Hitec HS-645MG High-Torque 2BB MG Servo
- Traxxas Ultra Shocks (2)
- Tekin Rebel 2 ESC
- Integy Matrix Pro Lathe Motor 65T Single
- HPI Spike Truck Wheel Shiny Chrome (2)
- Traxxas Rod Ends w/Connectors LS2 (will be making my own turnbuckles).
- TLT Rockbuster.

I was going to use the stock chassis and transmission for the most part. Is that even worth dealing with? Or should i go out and buy a SW2 with Stampede tranny? Also, Do you think i should change anything from my purchase? One more question, what is the best Wheelbase for a scale, but a good performing crawler. Would 12.5" be good? Or is there a better length. Im pretty much a noob when it comes to crawler, but ive been with rc for a good 3 years. I have converted a Savage to brushless, and im not afaird to do some faberication work. Any help would be greatly appericated.

I want to use a Jeep Rubicon Body from HPI. Do you know the wheel base on it?

To answer one of your questions, the stock tranny is not worth dealing with it its a complete waist of time to try and get one to work and hold up. The stock chassis is fine good to learn on and cut up and play with setups, but as you go along you will find your self wanting a better chassis.

hope this helps.

What brakes on the stock tranny? Ill use it for the first run atleast. Until it brakes, then ill probably modify my stock chassis for stampede tranny.

The stock TLT tranny is belt driven. When you lock the diffs and install a lathe motor, the belt will slip when your rig is even slightly bound up.

I ran mine with the stock tranny For 6 months before installing a pede in it last week in very trimmed stock chassis plates. Turned out sweet and performs much better with pede in it. It's finally where I went it to be. I put a 55T lathe, 85T spur,16T pinion and a belt tensioner on the stocker. The belt never skipped a tooth the whole time and I've put it in a quite a bind plenty of times. As a matter a fact, last week while running it, the rear tire got caught on a small root and stripped the rear ring and pinion instead of the belt slipping. But my buddy put a like a 90Tspur and 16T pinion on his running Geo's and his stripped out within a week or two. I think the tensioner was the trick but the COG still sucks.

Can you show me a picture or give me some more information on the Belt tensioner?

Is a Stampede Tranny best when its laying down. Or when its vertical?

your best bet is to lay it down to get the center of gravity down lower. especially if you want a good performing crawler...

Get the silicone oil. It is more consistent. Also 10wt, 25wt, and 35wt are a few good wt's to have.
