| Odd request for help
I am hoping someone can give me a hand here. I have an old tranny from Losi that has universals on it. I am wondering if anyone that has universals on a 12.5" wheelbase can measure their sliders from the diff to the axels for me (at max extension). I don't have anyone around me (that I know of) that has sliders on their crawler so I cannot measure theres. The Losi axels seem somewhat short from what I remember of the Traxxas sliders. Also, does someone have the part number handy of the universal (yoke?) joint that goes on the TLT axle to mate to the sliders? The Losi units are a shaft with the universal joint, not just the joint. Does that make sense? If not I can post a picture later of what I am talking about (I don't know a whole lot about crawlers, so bear with me.) Thanks |

Can't help you on the measurements. But if you are using Pede sliders, just attatch the Pede yoke to the TLT pinion shaft. You need to trim the yoke a bit. Check out this article - ORCRC TLT Buildup. |

That is my problem, I am not using the Pede sliders, I am using the Losi ones. They are shorter than the Pede ones (I think).

Do you know what losi tranny? My losi XXX-T has plastic sliders and they slide into traxxas sliders. They are shorter however. I guess I just don't understand what your setup looks like though.

It is a vintage Losi JRX-2 buggy tranny. I am actually going to use something else...parts are nearly non-existant. They used a weird offset on their spur gear as well as a pin to hold it in place. Cannot find any source of these special spurs and the pitch doesn't seem to be any common pitch either, so finding pinions has been challenging as well. It seems to be a pitch between 48 and 64, but doesn't appear to be standard or metric. Not sure what it is exactly so I am going to search for something a little more current and has some semblance of part availability. I tried a Pede slider on the Losi units and the guides were two different sizes on the Losi unit, so they didnt work.

I've got 3 JRX-2's. I used associated spurs on mine I believe. It doesn't matter what pitch they were when you switch them.

My guess is that you have the newer style tranny that the JRX-2s had. There were two styles. Unfortunately mine is the old one and finding anything for it is not worth the effort.

What makes them a poor design? My losi's are way smoother and they are capable of bigger angles without any bind. Granted they are too short, but I would have to disagree on the inferior design part. | |

I too didn't think them a poor design. One of mine has a flaw in the plastic from the moulding process, but in a buggy, I doubt it would be a problem at all. If they were longer and I could use regular spur gears, I would be set.
