Default total newb question

I recently bought a SW2 chassis and I ran into a snag when building up the crawler. How do you adapt the traxxas drive shafts to the TLT axel. I looked at all the pics I could find on here and couldn't find a good pic or thread on it. Sorry for askin a stupid question but better to ask the pros then destroy my axels tryin to jb weld the s.o.b.

You'll have to get a drill bit about the same size as the pin/shaft that threads through the ends of the traxxas driveshafts. And drill through the TLT pinion. I'm sure there is some kinds of thread on here that is more detailed, but that s what you have to do.

RXcrawler is right, drill the axles pinion shafts to fit a Maxx screw pin. Are you using Stampede or Maxx driveshafts?

Here's a link to my install on the 2.5 shafts, it's about 1/2 way down the page. The pics don't always line up with the description either.

Here's a pic of one of my drilled pinion shafts.

I didn't drill a hole. With Pede shafts, the plastic yoke in the rear was a problem, so I replaced it with a metal one. The front is plastic, and I've had no problems. Just occasional retightening.

What size drill bit do you use for the pin/shaft.

I used a #40 drill, which is .098 in diameter.

Wait, do you drill out the yoke. With a bit the same size as the bevel gear shaft.

You shouldn't have to. The 2.5 Maxx yokes have a screw pin that holds the yoke on the shaft, that'll bolt right up after you drill the hole in the shaft.

The pede shafts also have a screw pin that goes all the way through. That is what I am running with my SW2 setup.

Check my build thread here:

First crawler - Stock chassis - Who needs expensive stuff... 56k beware

Since I never did see a nice write-up on how to adapt the Pede yokes to the TLT bevel gear...

The rear one seems to be the problem one. Just make sure when drilling that you have it clamped down tight.

If you check my thread, I used a clothes-pin to help hold the bevel gear while I drilled it. I used hand tools, so I had to go slow. If a retard like me can figure it out and do it without screwing it up, I bet you will be OK.
