Default My first TLT

Here are the specs of the crawler I just bought. I am very happy with it but would like to set it up for crawling a little better. I have went through the newbie section of upgrades but it is a little harder with this one one cause some of it seems allready modded. I am also have a little trouble with it, It seems to be kinda cutting out when I drive it(going forward or reverse). not sure if I need a new ESC. Also would lke to get a stronger steering servo. I know I want to get a higher turn motor, get it to flex alittle better, possible cut the chassis for more clearance and run a little bigger tires. I have a had few RC's in the past(T-maxx,XXX-S, and still have my E-maxx) but no crawlers(except 2 1/8 nylints which hooked me for wanting a crawler)
Thanks and sorry for the newb questions

- Stretched 12.5” wheelbase
- VERTIGO center diff locker
- TLT Axles, front locked via spider gear
- Full ball bearing throughout
- MGT turnbuckles
- Maxx sliders
- Integy Piggyback shocks
- Proline Bronco body
- HPI split rims
- Geolander tires
- 2 Tamiya battery packs
- Msonik RV15 ESC... waterproof!
- Venom 17T motor
- JR Z270 steering servo
- Tamiya radio set

I am going to be using the body I painted for my emax for the TLT

This is my 1-1 which just made it in Septembers issue of Petersons 4-Wheel and Offoad. For a run we did with our club in Canada.

Looks nice. but a new chassis would be nice. That way you can not have the risk of the belt slipping. I like the paint scheme.

^^ Superglue and lots of it.

It doesn't begin to slip. When put under high presure it while slip. A gear drive tranny won't do that.

I can get a couple pics up in a few days, I am working 14 hrs a day right now and dont have time. As to how it was done I am not sure as I bought the truck the way it is.
Yeah I am at work right now
As for the electronics I am thinkin about ordering a tekin rebel 2,55t lathe motor, 2 hitec 645 servos. What do you guys think about that combo. Also I am getting the parts to redo the links, move the uppers to the servo mount.

CoolMan... there is probably something already on this forum if you search but not many people do that mod without changing out the weak trans first.

Icebreaker... nice work on all your stuff but I am especially envious of your work on your nice 1:1. Good luck getting the mods you need done with the boys around, unless they do their job and break it. LOL

Ya i have looked around but only found a mod that you have to grind the cups all up. I didnt want to do that and i just wanted to know how he did his but obviously he bought that vertigo locker and i didnt notice that when i asked the question. Thanks for all the help though.

Ok I am having a hard time decideing which trans to go with. I already have the maxx sliders adapted to the stock trans. Using the maxx sliders which would be the easiest trans to use between the pede, stealth, or losi. I seen one post where he laid down the pede but realy had to cut up the chassis. I really like how the stealth looked in a modded tlt chassis but I dont think he used maxx sliders, And the stealth trans dont seem to be as common to find as the pede. Oh this will be using the stock chassis that I will be cutting about 1.25" off the bottom.
Thanks

Since you already have Traxxas sliders, why not use a Pede tranny to make it easy to adapt? I've seen pics of someones TLT crawler with stock chassis and pede trans that looked factory.
