This is what I made.
I'm calling it the" Borrego".
I hand made the chassis sides,and servo plates out of 1/8 aluminum plate,and the suspension links out of threaded rod and stainless steel.
With Dubro heavyduty ends.
The bottom skid is nylon cuttingboard
stainless drive shafts(dog bones)

The things I didn't make.
front shocks from a t4 used on all four corners.3.5"
tlt axles locked.
stealth tranny.locked and emery cloth glued to slipper pads
revolver motor/mamba esc.
hi tec 645 servo

top of body sits 6.75 inches , bottom of skidplate is 3 inches.
Maxx articulation is about 40 degrees

Thank you. revolver motor is on it's way and i'll see how it performs.

ohh yeah aprilla i like the 250 two strokes but being 6'4 and 280 im kinda limited to the big bikes:-( not fair

My Holmes revolver showed up. what a pleasure it was to do business with homey.LOL
I installed the revolver with the stealth, into the Borrego. The fit was most excellent.
talk about torque .holy moly homey. A little slow with a 12 pinion 87 spur. perfect for crawling but i wanted to jump a little. i think a gearing change will satisfy my desire for more speed/air.
.1 the chassis was very stable and planted to the ground . 2 torue twist? what is that very slight with a full pull. basicaly none.
3 need to add more weight/traction.
4 tranny diff keeps loosening. tried locktite,no. Ca,better but no. hmm...
5 new body (bronco) and how to mount.
6 20% rear steer seem ok, don't notice but turns tighter.

Thanks for looking.
The rubberbands were just temporary for testing. But they were pretty light.
I got the stealth diff locked with JB weld. works good.

alright lets take a poll which body do you like better Bronco Or crowd pleaser.
also rc steve when i get home from my vacation to Eureka Nevada I will show and tell how i mounted the Stealth. it is real easy but you have to make a skidplate to mount it to out of nylon cutting board .I bought one from ralphs supermarket and cut a 2.5inch by 3 inch piece and drilled four holes to hold the tranny two holes where motor guard mounts at bottom of tranny and other two at front with aluminum tube to reach ears that used to mount to t4 shock tower area. rear screws screw right into tranny housing and front screws are 2 inch screws and a nut through tubing and ears on tranny housing. good luck steve. hope this helps and doesn't confuse too much. feel free to ask more questions if needed.

hey thats a nice looking truck, i have as couple questions, becuase im building a rig with similar wants, a want to crawl/ get some air and go fast. what kind or shocks are though?? tmaxx? cuz i got some savages, but i guess ill just rake them out more. motor turns?

howdy.
they are the front shocks from an Associated T4. about 3.5 inches long.
The motor is a Holmes Revolver. with a 17 pinion and 84 spur. It is still a little slow for jumping. The revolver is a pretty slow turning motor but lots
of torque. with that gearing it almost spins donuts and hits about 7-8 M.P.H.
next i will try a 21 pinion and see how that goes.

I've been beating on this rig for a few weeks now.
I had to ditch the attemt to use dog bones and now run pede sliders.
I've given up on making it fast, I'm happy with a 21/87 gearing on the stealth/revolver, tranny motor combo. it doesn't jump but kind of hops, it's cool.
i was running 3cell lipo's but i like it better with the orion 4200 mah 7.4 volt pack. the 3cell pack was over powering the eletronic system somehow. much better with 2cell pack and have yet to usea more than half a charge and running for more than a hour.

my last build was 50-50. so the new chassis will be a true 60-40. here on referred to as the "B2" Borrego #2:

60-40 was the second idea for the B2. The first Idea was bellydragger, get the COG down a little, have the lower 4 bar links be parralel to the ground when the vehicle is at rest. when compressed the belly will be lower than the axles.
the second concept was of course 60- 40 weight bias to the front.
the third idea is to have the shocks mounted perfectly vertical, from the standard mounting location on a TLT axle.

I'm cutting the chassis sides out of 1/8 inch thick 6061 aluminum with a hand held scroll saw. each plate cost $1.58 for a 4"-12" piece.

the skid is cuttingboard left over from the last build
the links i will make by sheathing threaded rod with stainless steal tube.

I have a pede tranny and tlt axle from a doner truck and the pede slider driveshafts, ha, I put as much lead inside the axle housings as i could. I'm laughing because it's pretty tight in there compared to a txt axle, but it's in there.

that's all i can think of for now. I will try to get pictures up as i go.
