| HELP! My steering sucks.
HS625MG, Futaba radio and receiver, running a receiver pack. I have to pull Austin Powers moves to make a uturn. It blows. I cant see anything binding cuz with the servo power off I can turn the wheels farther. Steering centered Left with by means of servo Right by means of servo Left by hand, servo power off Right by hand, servo power off. To me it seems as tho I should have the most travel with the way the servo is setup now, but why is the servo not turning it that far? |

Did you check your end point settings on the radio?

The 645mg I has is broken. I might have to dig up one of my quarter scale servos if it is a power issue. | |

Have you tried lifting the front axle up then using the servo to turn the wheels, this might tell you if it's a power issue, or something wrong in the servo's circuitry. Also, just from looking at your pics the draglink may need to be spaced up a bit, off the tie rod, looks like the two ball ends might be dragging against each other. One last thing to check are the splines on the output shaft of the servo and your servo horn, may be striped or worn and only turn so far before unloading. Just a few ideas, hope one of them solves it so the repair can be as cheap as possible.

Looks like and end point adjustment is not right. What radio does it have? Does it have little nobs that you would need a screw driver to turn?

It was the radio. Stole the tq3 from my clod and put that in this truck. Turns full lock to lock just fine. I guess the older radios dont work with the newer servos? Or maybe my receiver is bad.

I have some older Futaba radios that don't seem to provide adequate servo throw, even with the EPA cranked. Could be the resistor values on the PCB in the TX have gone out of tol. Seems like you've got a little toe out as well. This usually helps turn in with touring cars, but I found my TLT to turn harder with zero toe. Might just be a perspective thing with the pic, though. |
