Default updates on blacksmoke

UPDATES ON 2ND, PAGE CHECK THE WEBSHOTS LINK
im buying a star this weekend so ill be posting pics soon.

i got bored and started messing with the suspension. i cut about 1/2" out of each spring, drilled a hole in the spring cup things on the shocks and ziptied the springs in place to keep them from falling out of place. then adjusted shock mounting points and ive got a low stance awesome driveshaft angles, and all kinds of droop travel!

heres my webshots:

Looks good. Pretty soon you won't be needing me.

The pic of Highmark in front of the TV porn has me in stitches.

Have you actually tried crawling with it yet?
I'd be worried about torque twist with that set up...

i have some last night. it twists a litle more but still very tolerable. i think the 60/40 link setup helps eliminate the twist some. this is just experimental anyway, if i doesnt work, im out $5 in springs oh well... but so far i like the droop travel, its a belly drager but when it hangs up the suspesnion droops like a bunch and it finds traction pretty easily.

lookin' good D. Try putting some 35-80wt oil in the left rear shock that will just about kill it all.

keep up the good work, nice rings

Cool that the TT is not so bad.
Like Uni said the heavier oil can kill some of that too.

i use titanuim nitride t-maxx shocks with losi pinks on the fron and losi oranges on the rear all springs have 1/2" cut out of them.

shocks... but mine are the titanuim nitride ones...
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXSP65&P=ML

i wasnt able to find links to the springs, but they're team losi orange and pink truck springs.

unimoger: i put some 50wt oil in the left rear and it killed almost all of the twist thanks man!

well the spring setup kinda sucked... i was trying to mimic the suspensions on some 1:1 crawlers with tons of droop and missing links and whatnot. but in this aplication, it flopped, literally, tons of times...

it flexed too much, the shocks would max out before a tire lifted, waaayy too soft. and when climbing it unloaded too easily. like this, there was no reason for it to be 3 wheeling on that climb.
http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/attac...1&d=1158553901

one climb rizzo's SW2 (identical link setup/weight/tire/motor) went up first shot, took some effort but it made it first try. mine took 8 tries before i got it. it just kept unloading and flipping over backwards. and the extra droop managed to get tires sucked into holes more often than i liked. the front end actually droops a little more than i like because the front shaft rubs very slightly on the SW2 skidplate and i had to adjust the links to keep the axle from rolling back at full droop.

i put the red maxx springs back on the rear and left the front alone with the exception of the link adjustment. we'll see how that does this weekend.

ill keep you all updated.
