Default Winch placement

Tracer guys, where do you mount your winch? I finally got around to making one last night and I have no clue where to mount it so it actually functions correctly.

sorry, i can be a bit of an a-hole some times. I have seen people with tubers that have front bumpers that they connect the winch to.
a real scale crawler! action pics pg10

winch questions and answers
Scroll down to aways and there is a great pic of winch placement.

I will look for more links to try and help. It looks like if you mount it anywere up front, then make a bumper or something to mount the string in front of the truck, to center it.

Well I couldn't find any other place for the winch, so I just moved my shocks down, and secured it to the holes above the shocks. Also I made a bracket to support it since it was flexing a lot. I just found a 2" fine threaded screw, and fastened it to the servo, some washers and nuts to keep it in place and keep the line centered.
oh and it's 30lb fishing line.

That setup would allow you to pull the front end down when climbing steep hills.

Well I tried to climb up a file cabinet and almost half way up, the line snapped for some reason. Even though it was 30lbs rated. The crawler only weights about 7lbs. But I switched it out with some heavy duty string and it works like a charm. But I did relocate it since I put on my rubi body. So now it just comes out in the middle of the chassis bars and out the front where the "winch" is placed.
I'll get some more pics tomorrow.

I always wondered, if you could use it in a comp like that, it's a scale accessorie but you could also pull the front end down...hmm, nice build BTW
