So should I go with wideners or axle c's first?

pvtjrt01550 01-02-2007 11:06 PM

well the wideners are pretty much a must to mount 2.2 tires so I'd go with them..

the gmade wideners from the crawler store are nice I personally don't like barrel nuts (I tend to break them..lol)

Kool ima order those after I order my chassis

so it will be like this

chassis, gmade wideners, axle c's, alumn nuckles, Bearings, Alumn shocks

pvtjrt01550 01-02-2007 11:31 PM

that sounds about right but you might want to think about getting the bearings and the axle c's around the same time cause you'll have to have the axles apart ot mount the c's so that would be a good time to put the bearings in and button everything up

Thats true but I dont mind taking things apart its kinda fun I think i am going to order the bearings with the knuckles since there from the same person

chivas72 01-03-2007 08:57 AM

good choice bro

i already have the bearings in they make a huge difference

and i also ordered the aluminum knuckles from Jp Custom Rc's

the fat rock axle c's from fatrock

I'm just watinng on the first two to come in together with the esc and tranny my axiom motor already is in

the stampede sliders are in just waiting on BBY for the steel yokes

and the most awsome thing was the RC4WD bead lock rims with the fat red ring these are great

keep up the good work looks like we will finish around the same time I'm still saving up for the body and paint job

does it make a difference whether you triangulate it there or triangulate it inside the chassis??
It did for me - Triangulating inside the chassis did not seem to help at all - when I made new servo plates and triangulated at the axle it freed up much articulation. And eliminated the majority of the flex-steer.

and you also need to move your tie rod to the top (Gives more clearance)
Most definitely. Stack both of the tie rods on top of each other on top of the knuckle. Gives you a much better approach angle. And ditch the servo savers for solid horns. Servo savers just rob your servo torque, when you really need to turn the wheels in a tight spot, the servo saver will actuate instead. This is rock crawling, you're gonna have to expect to break things. Plastic geared low torque servos are not going to last you more than a week.

are these worth $27? seems like there are a lot of options, and these are on the edge with them all?

pvtjrt01550 01-03-2007 12:58 PM

are they worth 27$ sure there stout and they work well but imo 7$ blackfoot axles work just as good and NO BARREL NUTS!!!

Should i

i'm gonna go for the dig option you never know if you are gonna be competing and 2.2 clas has no rear steer plus i would never be able to afford rear steer on my 1:1 so there is my 2cents

Brandon M 01-04-2007 09:12 PM

You make a good point I might not run it we wil see when I get it running

Edit this is awesome I got like 90 bucks and my dad Said that he is going to buy my body and paint for me once the truck is a rolling chassis

and double j is shipping my chassis tommorrow
