Default 2.2" 'BroncoBuster' Build - Comp Crawler

The 'BroncoBuster' *No, it doesn't have any clod parts, I know.

This is my first (well second if you count a PTI Goliath Rock Crawler) rock crawling endeavor. I'm pretty interested to see how the parts all go together and how it will run compared to some of the GREAT looking crawlers I've seen by some of the other members.

I wanted to follow a build that came out very similar to what I was looking for, so thanks to "Mr.Pink" for some inspiration on this one. I used alot of the same parts in this build, so if it looks familiar... don't kill the messenger

Here is what ~800 dollars will get you started with:
(I think these parts should get me well on my way)

Dang that looks like it'll be a really nice build. Do you still have the four extra maxx shocks?

No, I bought them from another builder who used only 4 of them. Worked out pretty well!

I'll be posting some assembly pictures as I work on it, just figured I'd establish a thread for the build. Thanks for the compliments.

nice start dude! its funny in your build your motor is the least expensive out of all your stuff. in my first build (which i just finished) i spent most of my money on the mamba/outrunner setup. i cant wait to see how it turns out. good luck. buildin is the most fun part!

you're doing it right so far... its good to see someone starting out with good parts and not trying to go cheap on it.

Thanks for all the compliments. Shrek, I'll be interested to see where you guys are located, I'd love to take the truck out and give it a proper break-in once the season starts for you guys.

Thats a hell of a pile of parts. The last crawler I built I did it that way too, buy everything new (or nearly so). Makes building so much more enjoyable.

What is the track width with those beadlocks?

you had to go do that, i pretty much bought all the same parts minus the motro and esc, i have the outrunner /mamba setup on the way, for some reason i thought i got away cheaper than that (probably because i bought a little at a time....lol) just waiting on my chassis to get the axles on it. cant wait to see how your build turns out.

I bought it all over the course of about 3 weeks... So it didn't seem too bad =)

But I did want to keep a list so I knew what I had invested.

Anyway, here is a picture of getting the diff locked up:

Here are a few of the Crawford Performance Engineering 3/4" wideners, with the BL01N - Super Narrow Beadlocks installed. Luckly I had enough thread to get the nut on fully, past the nylon "lock" portion of the nut.

Well, after a scare with my job I decided to contine the build on this one...

Here is some progress, some of the XRC chassis parts are still coming from the factory, so I've done what I can with the parts I have.

Pictures of the progress:

Looks really nice dude!!! I would suggest moving the tie rod to the top of the knuckles. Can't wait to see more.

Replacements from XRC shipped yesterday! All I can say is the customer service is Awesome over there.

I'm hoping to do some major assembly this weekend on this.

In the meantime-- Are Traxxas Long Truck Half-Shafts the longest driveshafts available that will fit the Standard Traxxas Steel Yokes?

Parts came today! I got replacements for the Laser Cut Servo Top Mounts, and the Front Links, Along with the Delrin Chassis Braces.

Also got the new Moped V16R in and configured it out with a junk radio I had. Works perfectly, I'm pretty impressed for the 30 dollars I paid for it! Can't wait to get this beast running with the 55t lathe.

I've got it pretty well mocked up here:
