| Bronco on a Budget
Got hooked on this site in October and started my first crawler aroud Thanksgiving. Took a month or so to get it all put together (just fooling around with it on the weekends) and I finally got around to getting some pictures posted. I was going to go with a custom chassis, bu I had a tight budget, so I went with a modified stock chassis. Started with an old RC-10 buggy with a Proline truck conversion and the following thread: Stealth tranny in modded TLT chassis... Lot's of good info in that post for a stock chassis. Used the search feature from there on out to put it all together. Excellent forum!!!!!!!! Quick specs and on to the pictures: Chassis: modified tlt ESC: tekin rebel 2 Motor : integy 65t Servo : Hitec 5645mg Trans: Associated B3 Stealth-JB weld locked Gearing: 18/81 Axles: TLT-1 JB weld diffs with Revo shafts Tires: Pro-line Mashers/Moab on narrowed pede rims, star cut foams, washer weights, reducer washer rock rings Shocks: Maxx Before..... Yeah i here ya....... for 1. i want the axial beadlocks and 2. these trucks are not cheap, no matter what i do, i always spend money on these things Thanks for the info on the mashers, i am really leaning towards those ones. Because the look, and i think it would do better on my terrain. I heard they are both great though |

Looks real good man. That spot looks sweet too. We'll have to see about getting together somewhere next weekend. Frankenstunk, my family and I were the only ones who could make it this weekend.

That's what it sounds like. Terrain is the key. I've seen guys here running both at the same (masher fronts, moab rears). There's a lot of variety out here so they should both come in handy. |

Thats a clean build! I got two quick questions. How well does the body stay put with that velcro mount you use? Have you noticed any bad side effects from mounting the body like that, I mean does it keep you from squeezing through a section that you might be able to get through if you'd used top mounts? Tom |

It acts more like a real truck when you get it wedged in a bind, but I'm getting used to it. Probably not ideal for a comp truck because it won't get through the tight spots as easily. I also attached some delrin rock sliders to the back of the plates that hang down about a quarter inch below the body. As an added bonus, the mounts make good carying handles! Kool rig. what type of adapters are you running in the trans yokes. I have a stealth trans and want to run those large traxxas shafts but they wont fit in there with the spur gear.

I shortened the shafts a lot because my wheelbase is only 12" and this method mounts them on the end of the outdrive rather than slipping them over, but it helps clear the spur. It's worked out well so far. Just need to make sure to use a little thread lock in the screw through the stub at the tranny and make sure to drill or grind out a larger hole the slot in the outdrive cup for screw clearance or it will strip the screw threads every time. Those outdrives are tough! Last edited by RAM2500; 03-08-2007 at 05:16 PM. | |

Lower links are made from 3/8" Delrin from a local plastic shop. It runs about a buck a foot. I used some all thread to attach the rod ends. I tried to taper the ends like the ones that Bender makes, but I don't have a lathe. I used a pencil sharpener instead. Hope my wife doesn't find out 'cause it was her sharpener.
