Default loss of power

This is kind of weird and I havn't run into it ever before. Yesterday i was running a smaller spur gear (60 i think) then i messed that guy up pretty bad. So then i put on a 72t which should've given me more low end power, but now it stalls on anything remotly challenging. With the old spur i never once had any isues and it would still spin tires even when they where wedged in rocks. So is this a sign that my motor is shot?

there are ways you can check the motor buy taking the can apart. I would first clean it, but first inspect the comm and the brushes. I heard heavy brushes and stiff springs help.
Oh yeah, i heard brushless is pretty good, but no one has one so i dont know if i would buy one

Battery would be your best bet in terms of troubleshooting it. Besides that check for a cold solder joint or some poor connection.

Check your gear mesh. If it is too tight it could cause a loss of power. Also check the spur gear to make sure the larger diameter isn't rubbing on anything. Are the 60 and 72 tooth spurs hub the same style and thickness. If the 72 is thinner it could let mounting bolts go through too far so they rub on something, depending on how the spur is mounted of course.

Pull the motor, make sure the wheels, tranny, etc. all turn freely.

If the motor itself was good before the gear swap it should be good now. If the drivetrain turns freely, I would bet Torque55 has the answer.

yea, battery pack is fine, i'm running 3000 mah custom packs, putting out plenty of power, the gear mess is looser then when i had the 60t on, and brushless is just to damn expensive for me I've wanted to take my motor apart for a while, so I guess i'll do that and see what happens, I bet it got some metal flakes in it or something

The normal culprits are a motor that needs a clean and cut. Over time (especially in dusty and stalling conditions) the contacts will get all munched up and need cleaning. Beyond that, the magnets might be degrading from overheating or you have an electrical problem.

moped 1/10 esc, i quess my post didn't come up, after cleaning it put it all back to gether and the sucker has more power then when I first got it (it was used) I didn't know it could loose power that quick, it was an over night type of deal. cleaned the com and the brushes and removed a lot of metal shaveings from the magnets so it all works good now
