| Bluebeetles first attempt to make a crawler ***Updated body***
Ok guys, after modding my high-lift enough, but still wanting better performance, I decided to give it a go.... Ordered a TLT, tires etc etc.... Picked up some 3mm alu from a friend of mine, and made the chassis plates. Also made the servo/upper link mounts, bulletproof 3mm alu! The upper part, where the shocks are attached, is replaceable and attached to the sideplates with two screws. This way I don't have to remake the whole thing if (when) I mess something up.... Also picked up some Milwaukee V28's from a shop near me, and made some 2S packs, mounted on the steering servo which is quite common I think. Comparison to a normal 7,2V stick-pack The heart of this machine is the motor, a ss5800 5000kv brushless from Novak, which is controlled by a GTB I had lying around. To make it possible to crawl with this puppy, I installed a rc4wd 4:1 GRU, work like a charm and TONS of torque starting really low... GRU shown on my velociti 6,5R, the first motor I planned to use I relocated the lower link/shock attachement to gain some clearance for my steering, just drilled new holes through the axle housing: And this is how she looks atm, with Mad Truck-tires: Feel free to comment, I know I have made some stupidities building it.... Edit: the rockrings are also diy, made out of 2mm stainless to gain some weight.... Edit 2: This is why I call it "XtremePede" : Last edited by bluebeetle; 05-11-2007 at 04:52 AM. Reason: new title |

even though you moved the link mounts inward on the axle, I would still recommend using the two outer bolts in the stock location. Other that that, and a high looking COG, it looks good. Also something to think about: you might wanna try and move your body posts to the top of the rig; the side mounts do get you hung up alot more then needed. |

Oh yes, the screws are there already... I just took the picture a little too early.... And for the c.o.g, I wanted the chassis as narrow and sleek as possible, so I mounted the tranny like I did. My only competition atm is my friends Pti goliath, and kicking it's butt is all I need.... |

Could you go into a little more detail on the V28 system your running? This is the Milwaukee V28 correct? Maybe a view of the battery opened, or how to. How many cells are in there when opened, etc. I'm scared to open my spare up. (Li-po virgin) |

No problem, I just run them as 2S-packs, 2 cells in series it means. Each cell is nominal 3,7V just as it is with Li-Pos too. So I have 7,4V when they are serial. When you open the Milwaukee v28, there is 7 cells to play with. Here's a quick picture of a pack (before the shrinkwrap) I made for my friend for his Goliath: |

Thanks bluebeetle. Also are you charging these off the Milwaukee charger or another brand? I sell all Milwaukee stuff and was wondering about the v28 if it would work or not. Glad I ran into this thread... |

Sorry guys, didn't notice that question about the charger at all... But no, I use my Swallow ac/dc, which does have it's own program for Li-Ion. Armrastler: something between 2 and 3 hours it is, enough for me anyway... (I have four of the packs....) |
