| Stick Pack mounting on BMVII?
I just got a BMVII chassis. I'm running a Pede trans with a 55t. I was thinking of mounting the stick pack next to the tranny to offset the motor. Anyone run like this? I'm going to have to drill the trans mount so i was going to add a holder for the pack while I'm at it. |

If I have to run a stick pack, I prefer to mount it in the front opposite the steering servo. Just put some velcro on the front and a zip tie or wrap a velcro strap around one of the links. That works out very well right there.

If you are running a stick pack on a BMVII you are screwing up the torsion. make up some custom packs, I run mine wrapped around the front plate. 7 2/3a cells........lowers the CG over a stick pack by 50% or better. |

| Hmmmm, that's strange I'm running a stick pack on a BMv2 and it's not messing with the torsion! |

Stick pack mounted like others have mentioned works great for me, it flexes the same either direction. No issues. 2/3's are for servos IMO.

Thats funny, I made a 1400 10 cell pack, much lighter than a sub c 6cell stick pack, does not even compare in punch power, lasted 45 min. Sub c lasts hours all kinds of punch. On my brushless setup the motor hardly would crawl using the 2/3's. And I beleive weight is a good thing. |

If you are having problems with em its your problem not the cells, unless you are running substandard cells

It's not that they are not good cells, JRH does not sell junk. It is I demand more than you obviously from my crawler, maybe it's the terrain, maybe it's me. The 2/3's I have will be used for servo packs from now on. I might try them on my 2.2 clod, maybe... And no duh the weight needs to be in the tires on the BMV and the stick pack sits on the axle, so the weight would be where? |

I talked to Mike at Cheap Battery Packs and this is what he said: size makes a huge difference in capacity and power delivery. also I would not go to Nicad. Stick with NIMH. if you want 2000mah consider the 4/5A Elite 2000mah. NIMH and Nicad don't last forever and depending on how they are charged could affect the life of the pack. Make sure you are using a quality peak charger. Larger cells have better power than smaller cells of the same capacity. Mike I do have a small pack that I will try on this rig. if it works well, i will have Mike make something to fit the rig better. |

I used 7 cell AA 1650 packs from CBP on my BMVii. I also used elite 1500 2/3 6 cell pack and have since switched to a 6 cell sub c ib3600 brick pack for competition. The extra weight helps and i can run for a long time on one charge. I use the aa and 2/3 packs in my 1.9 scalers and they work great! Plenty of runtime and since they are higher up id rather use smaller batteries. Check out the new July issue of RC Car Action for my DIG article I wrote. There is a picture of my 2.2 BMVii and you can see how my batteries are mounted. Worked well enough to win my first comp |

I use NIMH 1200's direct from china, cost me about 75 cents a cell delivered. they work better than the IB1400's I also use, more punch and about the same run time. I ALso charge with an integy charger and use nothing but mamba max esc's. I do have a 7 cell sub c 3300's but the do not give any more punch but a much longer run duration.

| My performance suffered quite noticeably with a stick pack. I will not go back to a stick pack on this chassis. |

This is how I mounted my pack on the Shadow. Seems to work very well. |

I use a 3 cell 2480 mah lipo attached to one of the chassis rods and high strength Velcro holding the front down with no problem in four comps I have two first one second and a third I would say it works fine This is the Shadow project revised!! Last edited by draven; 05-15-2007 at 10:02 PM. |
