Default Delrin housings

Anyone try these yet? I have seen a few aluminum ones around but none of the delrin ones. I am talking about the RC4WD ones.

I'll give you an update when they get here. Using in my tuber build. The anticipation is killing me.

I have thought about going with the Derlin housings for awhile now.

My Super truck build I that I just finished has sucked up all the crawler funds lately though.

There has been 3 or so people around here using the aluminum ones but I think if I was gonna spend that kind of change I don't want it to hang up on the rocks! I just wanted to know if anyone has done any durability testing on these. I am building a new comp rig SW3 with some of the new Erickson aluminum comp weight beadlocks, Delrin high clearance links, Crawlmaster power and am considering these housing filled with all the goodies from RCP.

new erikson's?

spend your money elsewhere- use the stock housings. The only times I have seen damage to the housing is either wear over a LOOOOONG time or the axle shafts busting and popping a hole in the casing (not a casing failure) You should be just fine with beefed up internals.

This is all assuming you are using axle c's and good suspension mounts.

RC4WD makes the alum and delrin ones........I have used them both, and both needed to be modified to work, holes in the wrong place, missing holes that had to be drilled and tapped.

IMHO they are nothing but trouble

Here is what I've learned so far
1. Bearing races will need to be shimed slightly (the bearings will slide side to side inside the housings.
2. I'm using an aluminum spool with the rc4wd straight axles. When these two are put together you will only have two clip areas on the axle.
3. The housings are taller than the stock ones. So the bolts holes that hold the housing together are spaced farther apart i.e. your shock/lower link mount will not bolt on. Your Junfac axles braces will not fit. Use some L channel aluminum and fab some up.

and the width of the spacing of the holes are different between the straight axle and the front axle housings
