Default New pede tranny steel gears! FROM TRAXXAS!

OK well traxxas has come out with their XVL line of rustler, bandit, and pede... they are brusless and traxxas decided to give the standard pede tranny some steel gears (as a stock ruslter with the brusless setup and a 3c lipo batter will do 70mph!!!)

n e ways heres the parts sheet

http://www.traxxas.com/products/elec...tler_trans.pdf

and the part numers for the steel stuff

Top gear = 3195
Idlergear = 3696
Complete Steel diff = 2388X
Just steel diff gear = 2381x

Tower has the top gear and diff, but not the idler yet... but ima definetly pic up a set before i head up to mammoth this summer!

Just thought id share

Thanks for the info, but it's not very new. I've been running those in my Pede since I tore it up after getting my BL last year in June of 06.

Been holding up fine to my 1st gen Revolver/Quark combo since June of 06
A worth while upgrade.
You're not supposed to run Steel gears with aluminum gears, but at the low speeds of our crawlers, it hasn't been a problem.
The top drive gear is Steel, and the idler gear is aluminum for some reason.

are you using some time of gear lubricant ?

it would be kinda hard with your setup not to want to punch it once and a while

I use a waterproof boat trailer grease on all my gears.
And it gets punched plenty I love the combo of wheel speed and torque with that combo. Been flawless.

What he is saying is that all of the gears are steel now, no plastic, no aluminum.

Me neither, I can't find anything different in the #'s but the diff is steel now. I have seen them advertising all steel gears since they came out with the brushless unit, we can only hope!!

I'm heading to my LHS in a bit, I'll check, they usually carry everything I need for my crawlers. I've bought all the parts needed for a set of Tlt axles, as well as full Pede trannys. if it's available, they'll get it for me

Tower's has the diff gear listed but not in stock.

The top gear in the new trans looks to be different from the old one on towers.

Looking forward to this stuff coming out though!

some one at traxxas musta had a lil typo on the exploded view of the Rustler xvl...

They got their numbers backwards on the STEEL IDLER GEAR..

the STEEL IDLER GEAR PART # is 3696 NOT 3969

also got part number for just the steel dif gear and entire assebly.

Edited inital post with right part number.
