| Stampede output question
Do must people just use the grub screws to hold the yoke on the trans side, or can you drill through it and use the cross pin (not sure if thats the right term) like you would use on the diff side. I have tried the grub screws but they seem to keep twisting inside the yoke and letting it slip.

Assuming I understand you correctly... Are you asking if most people drill through the bevel gear shaft when attaching the yoke, to allow for the longer "cross pin"? That's definitely the best way to attach the yoke... you might want to pick up an extra set of bevel gears though, in case you need to make a second attempt.;) |

thought that the new Planetary Gear set (#2382) had the cross hole in it already, the new style output yokes ( #4628 ) are like the maxx. http://www.traxxas.com/products/elec...ans%20assy.pdf |

yeah the older stampedes just use a screw threw the middle of the output and two grub screws on either side. But the newer models have a pin all the way through. This is obviously the much better setup and switching it over is just a matter of taking apart the tranny and either A) drilling through the ouputs or B)buying the parts to switch it over.

The new set goes for about $6 and is well worth it.

I looked at the Planetary Gear set (#2382) on Tower and it looked like the old style. http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXJJ20&P=7

The part number you have is correct, I just assembled a new diff for my TLT and the header card (with new style planetary gear set) was #2382. Problem being, if you order from Tower you can't guarantee whether they have the new set or old set in stock (I would assume they already depleted their stock of old ones)... You can buy them directly from Traxxas for $6.00 and the picture shows the long grub screw and sun gears with the necessary holes: https://buytraxxas.com/product_info....a73305baafef3b
