Talking Beckworks Tuber - XRRA inspired (New pics: 10/28/07)

********** NEW PICS ADDED WITH 1.9 ROCK CRUSHERS 01/20/08 **********
After a the last couple years of really wanting a tuber... And more recently seeing images of XRRA buggies... I decided to have a tuber made.
I contacted Beckworks towards the beginning of this month to see if they'll do it. After seeing their recent Cobra, fast5xc's Silverado, and recently
jamesbernatchez's Yota, I knew I wanted them to make it.

This is what I was planning on having it based on: Rick Dermo's rig (so I'm told)

Some of the info on the vehicle: TLT Axles, Stealth tranny, 55t or 65t motor (may change that to a 27t to make it faster, XRRA style), Futaba ESC (Novak Rooster Crawler eventually), 5+2 1400mah batt, 645MG servo, etc...
Electronics are on a bit of a budget for now, new stuff eventually...
One change to the original is that I'm going to 4-link it. Overall, it's a cross between 'form follows function' and 'function follows form'.

I got my first update last night on the rig. Now this is just a start... There's a bunch more to have done. And if you've seen Ryan's other builds, you know that they start of like this and then, BAM, they look amazing!

More updates coming. Still being built...

That's gonna be cool. I'm thinking of doing something similiar, or at least attempting it. I'm gonna keep my eye on this one.

wow look pretty close to the 1:1 cool

nice frame jig too (or whatever its called) must come in handy. It's really annoying having to balance frames and axles on pices wood when trying to build a new chassis.

jamesbernatchez, your Yota looks great! That's part of the reason I am so anxious to have mine completed.

I finished putting together my wheel and tire combo today. They are Axial beadlock wheels with rings cut by 62PYRO to fit the Axials. Then I had the rings powdercoated red by Double J. I think they look awesome, right!!?!!

The chassis is going to be powdercoated flat black. And then some aluminum panels made. I'm still thinking about what I want to do for graphics/paint/decals for the panels. I think eventually I'll have some Lexan panels with the True-Fire paint like the 1:1.

I received some further updates. Rear link mounts were added, rear shock mounts were added, and the front shock hoops were added and awaiting shock mounts.
Now the links shown are not mine, just ones that Ryan had laying around. More or less there to help give a better idea of how the link mounts work.

Thanks everyone for the complements, Ryan at Beckworks is doing a great job!!!

Got another update last night. Front shock hoops and mounts are all done. Some additional triangulation was made and mounts for the body panels were added. Next is to finish the welds, grind down the welds, and then get her powdercoated.

Here are some pics:

Final update from Beckworks... It will be in the mail for me on Monday.

I am so pleased with how this turned out. Flat Black Powedercoat looks great! And the aluminum panels really set it off. Check out the 'Engine' cover too.

THANKS RYAN & AMBER!!!

Looks awesome guys. That buggy is one of the coolest looking rigs in the XRRA. The scaled down version looks like it'll be just as sweet when it's done.
