Default Transmission mounting

This might sound like a really dumb question, but oh well. Is there any preference or reason of how to mount the transmission. Motor towards the front or rear of the chassis. I'm going to be putting and R2 in my crawler.

Thanks

For weight distribution and balance. Usually towards the front for a heavier front end.
