Default My black SW-3 build

Hola,

I just got my SW-3 in the mail this week and started converting my old, trusted SW-2 to the new chassis.

This is what I started with:

There was no reason to upgrade it, it drove very well and I really loved my SW-2, but you all know, when I first saw the prototype of Benders new chassis I just wanted to have one. So here we go:

First, I ripped everything apart. I wanted to made some other imrovements to my rig too:

Cant believe this:

(3,8 OZ)

(1,55OZ)

I was going with my stampede tranny. I know, its not the lightest anymore, but I have lots of spare parts in my box. So I will stay with it for a time:

Because of the torque of the outrunner BL system I am using a new stampede slipper with nitro-style brakepads and ball bearings. This system works very well and stays true.

The weight:

(11,42OZ)

next thread, axles -->

Next, I wanted to upgrade to axle-C´s and also get rid of those junfac-linksmounts and return to classic tamiya ones (half the weight)

You all know how to cut your axles ...

Improved axles.

completed:

Thanks Brad, those new black plates are sick, love them !!!!

So everything back for a weight-check:

(36,50OZ)
As you can see, I am missing my delrin, high clearance links. David put them in the mail and I hope to finish this thing soon. Also, I think I must go with a new body, black and blue, to stay with this colour-theme ....

Cheers Pete

... more soon !

Nice build and pictures! Please keep them coming. I am very interested to see it finished and see what you think of it. I take it, that you did not like the jun fac link mounts? Was it just the weight, or was it anything else? Is this a comp rig, or one just for fun?

That rig does very well! Nice job and video. What band is that singing the Micheal Jackson song?

Id try to get that rear pinion angle up, it seems to be almost parallel to the ground. With it being on the rear, youd want it out of the way, and there wouldnt be any disadvantages, IMO.

Looks sweet though. Im thinking about hacking my SW2 for easier tranny switches.

Nice work on the build Pete. Looks like you didn't waste anytime getting it together. Cool video too BTW.

I spy some rear wheels being stripped out. Look at the one picture.

Yes, thats a problem with those axial wheels and those wideners. I have this all the time on the rear with them. I tighten them hard with loctite and they wont come loose, but they came allways half through the hex of the wheel. Any suggestions ?
