EP's J2-TT - part 2

I haven't updated the original thread in a long time. It's more or less a rolling test bed for me, as I've tried it all. Or, at least the pile of parts I have leftover tells me I've tried it all.

This is a great truck, and has helped me to victory and a few top finishes in the Tri-State Crawlers club.

After snapping some pictures of my new Axial Scorpion, I wanted to get this thing on film also. Here it is:

Losi pink springs up front. Hi Lift springs inside.

Losi blue on the twist side, and orange on the other. Again, Hi Lift springs inside.

http://img253.imageshack.us/img253/7920/img8212fw9.jpg

An Airtronics 361 servo, Spektrum reciever, and Thunder Power 1320 mah 2 cell battery. Also, MIP CVDs from RCP. Gotta have those.

RC4WD's R2 with disconnect transmission, with a Spektrum Z590 servo.

http://img107.imageshack.us/img107/9428/img8208pt4.jpg

A 45 turn Integy motor, with those purple stiffer Trinity springs.

http://img265.imageshack.us/img265/8140/img8214dr3.jpg

Novak's Rooster Crawler ESC. Even though the BEC is strong, I use an MPI regulator also because I bought it a while ago to help a Mamba 25 ESC and it's weak BEC. Don't need more parts sitting around... might as well use it I guess.

Here you can see a couple of spacers underneath the rear upper link mount.

High clearance links are a must have.

The flex shot. Original Erickson beadlocks, and old worn Moabs, now filled with Kreepy Skwishy inserts. Narrow Ruby Reds up front, and narrow Pinks in the back.

And finally, the Parma Toyota Tundra body. Love this thing.

That's it.

Well done EP... I like the servo mount for your dig servo is that EP fabricated or manufactured?

EeePee 08-26-2007 01:23 PM

Thanks guys. Pinchflat at www.ReignRC.com put together a great package, all I did was tweak the living crap out of it.

For the disconnect servo mount I used some TLT steering servo blocks, and the most rusty, and worn out hardware I could find.

http://img57.imageshack.us/img57/8956/img8223eq7.jpg

I was thinking the servo might pivot around on the chassis crossbrace, but not yet.

Also, I tried a HiTec micro servo, but it got hotter than heck after a few disconnects and reconnects.

nice spacers on the upper shock mounts... hillbilly.

overall I give it a F+, hey at least you tried.

really.... looks good, I like how all the wiring is somewhat in order. do you like running those side body posts. I ran them on my old XRC and they hung on everything it seemed.

AMorgan 08-26-2007 03:15 PM

Hey EP, looks great man, good to see some side body post bretheren... Can't wait to embarass that thing on Saturday :)

RexRacer19 08-26-2007 04:04 PM

Are you using the 3-channel Spectrum radio with this rig? I was wondering how the 3rd channel would work with the R2 tranny.

Thanks.

EDIT: Nevermind...I answered my own question...

Saturday? I might be able to come out and play on Saturday.

AMorgan 08-26-2007 07:55 PM

Saturday night at ARRRRRRRRGHbuckle park on the far side of Indy. Thinking we're going to leave HT around 4 or 5 and head out.

EeePee 08-26-2007 09:14 PM

F+ my butt! Come try me at a comp for once you non shower upper!

I spent a lot of time getting all those stupid wires laid out nicely.

Side body posts can work to your advantage, you just gotta learn how to use them suckers.

Saturday = death to all.

Good luck on saturday

Cory what pinion are you running with 45t? Or did you switch out to bm9 ?

EeePee 09-18-2007 04:02 PM

Right now the 8 tooth pinion supplied with the tranny is on a 45 turn Integy. It's too slow for practical reasons, but the super slow tire speed is pretty sweet. It needs a litte more speed for those running starts. ;-)

Hey there hesh, there's this one, and the J2 is at the very end. But the video really doesn't show much of the truck's capabilities, but it's in there. It's also a little different in the set up than what's posted here in this thread.

Yeah me too, but sometimes I like super slow wheelspeed. I'm thinking of trying a 35 turn Integy I have that's just collecting dust, but I'd have to turn on the soldering iron and that's all the way over there in the other room...

"thumbsup"
