Talking Dutch 8x8

I started a 8x8 (6ws, twin motor probably) because i ordered 1 ax-10 scorpion to be my next serious crawler, so i had two TLT's lying around to strip

just a teaser for now...

The donors (tho perfectly good crawlers...)

The parts

The start

OK, that's where i am now... will probably continue next sunday

So you don't do any axle-mods ? Using 2 motors you'll be using 2 trannys I guess ... If so than it's more double 4x4 instead of 8x8.

Interesting build, gonne watch it since I'm on a (very slow) 6x6 build myself.

i know, i was thinking about a proper 8x8, but then you need 6 axles, and i have only 4, so i can't run the drivetrain through the axles. bummer i know. so i'm cheating a bit with tho tranny's and two motors.....

you have a build thread of that 6x6 yet?

Like I said: interesting, I find it difficult to locate links to a straight chassis for now wonder what you'll be using for a chassis ...

I have no buildup thread of my 6x6 yet. I've only done the axlemod and a servo/link plate for the front axle now. If I ever get things of the ground, I'll post it

Thats one use of the stock trannys. Here's a couple ideas for you.

You don't need another complete set of axles, just these extra parts for the 2 inside axles

modded up like this

and then I linked them up to a straight chassis. You can do something like this, almost exactly like the stock TLT kit. Of course you'll have to flip one set of axles upside down because of the axle output rotation is reversed from the trans. I did the inside set of axles. I had the same amount of flex as the stock TLT.

Then drop in a trans of your choice. I did an E-Maxx trans (with shift servo to be fancy) and a divorced 35T motor/GD-600 setup connected to the spur shaft with another drive shaft.

This is as far as mine got. I threw some electronics and it did some test runs and got some video. It worked fine but at 3 feet long just not to practical for what I wanted so I abandoned the project.

Mine was 3 foot long and 10 inches wide. Wasn't crawling nothing. Was going to make a great mobile paintball platform, especially with my remote camera mounted as gun sights. I don't like the neighborhood kids

How do you make the inside axles live on both sides?

US Army HEMTT - scratch built out of sheet plastic but not any more. It's parted out into a couple other rigs

Pic #2 of my post - add diff and axles and slap whats shown together. Seems to work with Scorpion axles too. There's a T-Rex build started in the Scorpion section, same principle.
