Hey everyone, I've been lurking here a couple years now, and am finally ready to go slow! I am working on my first crawler, and have a decent starting point thanks to MTXMUGEN, and special thanks to Nick Rummy for the chassis design. Pardon the hack job on the chassis as it sits, MTX tried to do it with a dremel before shipping it to me and lost 2 dremels to get 2/3 of the holes cut out. He will be machining me a set of chassis plates from the same cad drawing in a month or two. I will be using a mamba max with external bec and a JR ds8611a to turn the wheels. Motor and lipo are still up in the air. It has a GD-600 so I am thinking 45t lathe on 3s. I am open to any suggestions as this is my first. Now on to the pics! this is a very rough mockup, I will have the motor facing the front and the rest of the screws in the beadlocks and may other small little things. Looks pretty badarse, the axles probably don't need the wideners, looks like you're on the right track, shafty supers are the coolest |

Looks great for your first build Report back on the Xlocks and how she crawls. What is the gear ratio on that trans and the difs? What motor are you thinking of? Two suggestions: - move your lower links to where the shock spacer is on the outside of the axle mount to get more double triangulation. It will make it stronger. - even though the trans did not need it, you might consider a skid under the center section of chassis. A domed top rock could snag on the bottom of the trans. Looks good! |

Thanks for the input guys. I did not realize the 17mm adapters were also wideners, but I have them now so they will stay, I need the 17mm hub for the axial wheels. I will try the repositioning of the lower links thanks for the tip! The diffs are stock right now 2:1, but I just ordered the 4:1 kit from here. The trans is stock with a gd-600, pardon my noobness but I do not know off hand what the ratio there is. I am thinking a 45t lathe motor on 3s lipo??? edit: I tried moving the lower links out but ran into a clearance issue on the knuckles. Until I can get shorter stand offs made it will have to be run with them inside. And I have a skid plate in the works, it was the first thing I wanted after I got my hands on it. I got it drivable last night and found a few problems. The extender yokes that mtxmugen made for the center drive shafts had the grub screws cross threaded in them, I had issues loosening or tightening them, they rounded out then slipped off the output shaft. I will have to figure out something for that. Also the steering servo mount that he had setup is not adequate for a 320oz servo, it just rocks back and forth. I will replace the top plate on the axle with one that I can top mount the servo to as well as fasten the upper links too. for the few minutes I got to drive it I was very impressed with the x-locks, but think I need to do some foam work, they were just a bit stiff. I also want to shorten the lower links so that they mount on the outward most point, get an r2 tranny and make a bottom skid from delrin to mount it too. Get that COG down |

I think it looks cool so far. Keep us posted on your build. What body are you thinking about putting on that beast. |

I have no idea what shell I want to use. I have too many other things to sort out first. A quick thought is a proline Desert Rat, chopped up rock racer style.

Looks like y'all did your homework for the most part. Suggestion: If you get the R2 make sure it is the HD version or maybe the V2HD. You strip the regular one out in a heartbeat. |

I was looking at the HD or V2HD, I know the original would not hold up to a super very long. I fabbed up a new mount today. I still have to get some servo mounts and drill for them, but it should be much more sturdy. |

I did some side work tonight and earned some spending cash! Should I get the R2HD or V2? I'm still open to motor\battery suggestions. Esc is mamba max with bec. How durable are those Punisher shaft II? They look pretty slick. |

I like the way the chassis looks! I would go for the R2HD, and look at Revo shafts for driveshafts. |

I have revo shafts. Suppose I will stick with them. The R2HD is my first choice, so that it will be. 45t with 3s sound good? or would there be a better motor\battery combination? |

I made a center skid and tranny mount plate from a delrin cutting board. The chassis has no flex now, it is all in the suspension. omg... he's gone mad with the weights I will not use all, just most. |

Grooved the foams: Weighted the rims, 9 oz. in the fronts, 7 oz in the rears Added some tape to help the adhesive side. hopefully they stay in place! |
