I have a box stock TXT-1 that I am about to begin a crawler buildup on, but before I start...am I wasting my time???

It appears that Clods are the only way to go. I am concerned that this build will be for naught. As of now, my TXT is stock, should I just avoid chopping it up (and throw it on the shelf) and just start with a clod???

I would say go for the TXT build. You never know, you may be the person that finds the setup that kicks the clods to the curb.

do the TXT build! Check out some builds that other members have done and get some ideas for it

Stick with the TXT. I'm about to start building my second one, they are a great truck to build from.

Is this a comp truck? In some instaces you can beat a clod but in most, sadly the txt comes up short. I have competed with mine and was the only txt against a sea of clods. All around bashin I like its style, comps better go with a clod or think way out of the box to beat em.

I feel it is preference. The clod is definitely more geared for comps. I like the TXT for the realism. It takes more finese to navigate a TXT across the course.

I don't have a Clod but I see one in my future. But I love those shafties...

I have had both and I liked the TXT, but did not have the time to tweak it. There are many possible configurations, just need to find what you like.

I have been building/tweaking a TXT for months now and im getting closer but its still a ways off from being competetive in a comp. If you are just building for comps, and dont want to do any real tweaking, go with a clod. I on the other hand, think clods are pretty lame and will probably never own one, so thats why i went with a TXT. Shafties just bring more realism for me and i like building just as much as crawling so the decision was easy for me. TXT!

Clods are lame.

When they start running the motors and gas tanks on the axles in 1:1 comps,I might think about trying a Clod.......for about 2 seconds.....then realize they are still gay and run what I got.

Shafties do take a bit more work in building them and you gotta find the sweet spot to make them comp worthy. SHAFTIES CAN RUN WITH CLODS,PERIOD. All you need is a good set up,learn your trucks abilities and use them to the fullest. Set your links up to aid traction and weight distrbution,place your weight in the right spots and it'll be hard to beat

look up the 4:1 gearing option you can do in the axles... it will hep to eliminate the "torque twist" issues experianced by most. Here in colorado, theres a txt that finished in the top 5 almost everytime, wouldnt suprise me if he's won a couple.. its just a bigger tlt!!!

If you build it just make

it about 20 inch wheel base because they torque like a real truck

We have a TXT 1, a crawler store stick and a 17" pimpcane. They are all as much fun as each other and I doubt you will be dissapointed with your TXT 1 build.

Do you have any experience to back that?

A 20" wheelbase with anything smaller than Kongs will be sitting on it's belly all day or on it's lid cuz it's to high. It'll also take a 40 acre feild to turn it around

On my Txt i use to run a 14.5wb Then i went to a 15wb.

And what a difference it has made.

My Txt goes some places my stick can't go
