Default Maximizer Beadlocks MGT Tires

Do Maximizer Beadlocks and MGT tires go together? I know I need an adapter to fit Maxx type wheels to my TXT, but wondering about the wheel tire combo.

I see Kona Joe seems to be running these, but a forum search didn't find me anything.

I currently run WAY narrowed TXT wheels with some adapters I had made on a rapid prototype machine (!!). I have cut foams and 4 oz. of #9 lead shot in each wheel, and the tread is cut, but I'd love to be able to get tires/wheels apart to try different stuff.

Yes they fit.

Here is the writeup I did on installing them.

OK, thanks. I ordered some, along with Rage Rings, just in case, and yet another set of BFT's.

Now....How to mount them on a TXT? What type of adapter do I need?

Sorry about all the dumb Q's, but LHS doesn't know anything about all this stuff. They haven't seen a TXT-1, let alone one all modded for rock crawling.

Thanks again

Try TTR (ThunderTech Racing) adapters. Read this thread

I'm retired!! Don't work anywhere! Where I worked up 'til June 1 of this year is a small shop inside a big company in Neenah, WI. I didn't RUN the machine, but it's a DTM SLS machine. A good friend actaully runs it, so if I NEED something, he can sneak in into a build!! They also have a 3DSystems 3D Printer for color stuff, and are looking into a SLA. They have stainless capability on the SLS machine, too. I have a machine shop here at my house for THAT part.

We made the adapter rings of simple old DuraForm plastic. I have a couple extra sets, but now if I'm going to use the Maximizer Beadlocks, I won't use them. They make up the diameter and thickness difference when narrowing TXT wheels by a BUNCH and using MGT BFT tires, they go inside and out.

There aren't any rockcrawler owners around here that I've found, but I admit, I haven't LOOKED too hard. LHS is into typical go-fast, it seems, nothing available, info included, so I have to lurk on these forums to learn anything.

I have a pretty modified TXT, cut frame, longer links, gear reducer, all radio/battery stuff moved around. It has a single Magnetic Mayhem with the gearbox. Works good, but I don't have anybody's crawler to compare it to. It's just pretty fun.

Sorry to ramble. Kind of off topic, I guess.

I know that adding shot or BB's is to balance the tire but is it really neccasary for an RC truck? Especially for crawling? My buddies are running golf balls in their 1:1 crawlers for driving to the trail on the highway, but in a RC truck I just don't get it. enlighten me

I don't put it in for anything to do with balance. I just put it in to get some weight right down there by the ground!! It seems to work great, but like I've stated previously, I don't have anything to compare to other than previous iterations of MY truck!! I just picked 4 oz. out of the sky, nothing scientific, just like almost everything else with my truck, just a bunch of guesses and trial and error.

I got my Maximizers, Rage Rings, some new BFT's. Now I guess I need some adapters to get spacing. It never ends!!

Can someone clarify BFT for me?
I am not sure if its right or not but does it mean "Big Fu**ing Tires"?

"BFT" tires are off of the Team Associated Monster GT truck. http://www.teamassociated.com/shusti...t/mgt_kits.htm

OK, here's what I've learned about Maximizer Beadlocks and Monster GT BFT tires so far.

I trimmed the inside of the bead with a body scissors to get rid of the 'flash' or whatever you call it. It varies a lot, tire to tire, and makes the bead locks not fit too well.

I can use standard rings, don't need Rage Rings.

The bead outside diameter of the Maximizer's is 3 7/16" where the tires have a 'relaxed' bead diameter of 3". That's a lot, but the tires pop right up there with a little tugging!! Makes for nice sidewall and the Maximizers are narrower than even my 'seriously' narrowed TXT wheels, so all in all, they seem like they'll be great.

I had to order some Thundertech adapters. The Maximizers won't work stock, even with some aluminum adapters I bought to go from 12mm to 14mm hex. Too deep of dish on the back. Hopefully the Thundertech adapters will get me out where I need to be. I don't know how they'll bolt up to the TXT axle shafts. If I have to, I'll make something for that. I DO have a machine shop here, after all.

All in all, the Maximizer's seem cool. I think I'll be able to try weight (shot), foam, cut tires, all that, without having to glue them and make a mess.

Now I have to cut apart at least one set of TXT modified wheels and see if I can salvage a set of cut BFT's to try with the new wheels.

I'll try to post after I get the adapters and let the group know what I think!! As a retired guy, sometimes it's hard to find the time!!!
