I neglected to add that this rig is more of a baja/rally racer with a sidewinder/4600/3s lipo combo..and the tires don't need to be scale-lookin', just 1.9x3.75 and grippy but durable..

I'm thinking chains are going to be a better bet. As light as these rc cars are, I've never seen a big improvement with just tires.

Dirt grabbers will likely not be very good in the snow. I can imagine they'd pack up with snow quickly and not clear themselves, like they do with dirt and mud. I would think you'd want something that would also work in mud no? Something with big paddle like or pin type treads? Actually pin type would probably work best since it copies the idea of spiked snow tires. 2.2 Badlands reduced down maybe?

the prowlers have a similar tread to some Imex claw dawgs I've got...maybe I'll just reduce (& narrow ) those..

If you have to have 3.75" tall, and aren't afraid to reduce a tire, then you should consider making a hybrid tire. Its the only way to get a good tire that small. See how-to I made: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eE3kRAm_EaA | |

I dont think any tire at that height will do "good in snow". you want a snow tire to slightly cap with snow unlike a mud tire that you want to clean out.. even a inch of snow will bury a tire that size.. if you are throwing tons of wheel speed at this which IMO is the only option at that height any buggy tire will work.. the added width of a buggy tire may be enough to help keep you on top the snow if the truck is light.. |

That would be too big for the rig I think, from what he's saying. Seems he wants a scale sized tire (3.75") capable of crossing some snow. I think the key is a light rig though. reduced imex claw dawgs standard trail docs How soft the snow and how light the rig will have lots to do with how successfully it goes across snow. |
