| Junfac chassis skid plate
Hi, Just bought a Junfac Chassis skid plate but forgot I have the FJ40 chassis. Its 10mm longer, has anyone fit a Junfac skid plate to FJ chassis?

You could use longer spacers on the back side of the skid plate and mount the links in their designated location, I would think.

Yes, It will fit the chassis. My chassis is extended as well and works just fine. I did cut the the half moon portion off of mine to get more flex. I am not using the stock rear suspension components.

No, I am using standard suspensions. Do I have to turn the mounting point around to fit it? Because the suspension arm in the way. Last edited by DrVY; 01-31-2012 at 04:17 AM. |

| Re: Junfac chassis skid plate I used the Jufac link kit too when I installed mine. The only way to get the stock linkage to work is move to the next hole back, it will lengthen your wheel base though and the drive shaft might not be long enough. You may just want to ditch the stock parts and either make your own links or order the Junfac link kit. Here is a picture of mine wit ht he half moon portion cut off for the longer wheel base. |

Thanks, but I saw this on Junfac site before I bought it. Don't know how they make standard links work. |

| Re: Junfac chassis skid plate It works because they are using the first holes and run the screw through the ball on the link. You are mounting your trailing arms on the middle hole, which increases your wheelbase. I think the use of the stock links with the skid plate will limit the travel. Your best bet is to upgrade to aluminum links with ball ends. |

The CC chassis has 3 WB settings, short, medium and long. The Junfac plate was only designed for short and long - the medium setting came out later after this part was produced, which is what your kit is using and that's why it is an awkward fit. You'll have to do a bit of modding to make it work. Don't screw with the wheelbase by changing holes, that's a lot more work. It looks like it's only rubbing by a mm or two - use a file/dremel/etc and trim the skid plate for clearance so the link swivels freely. 5 minute fix. Ball links would work also since they are somewhat smaller if you don't want to do any permenant trimming. Last edited by OSRC; 02-01-2012 at 09:39 AM. |
