Default Front Hubs for 1.5" Wheels?

I've seen a bunch of stuff on fitting 1.5" wheels to the front end. It either involved modifying the wheels or running steelies. What I'm wondering is if anyone's ever fitted different C-hubs and steering knuckles. As long as the distance from outdrive to inner bearing remained constant, it should work.

Time for some late night hacking!

Short answer: Yes. I test fitted a set of Tamiya TL01/M03 C hubs, knuckles and stub axles, using the stock CC-01 dogbones. They fit like they belonged on there. Geometry on the C hubs appeared dead on. This tells me that the newer M05/06 stuff would probably fit as well, even if the C is a few mm shorter. A nice bonus is that you gain around 5mm of track width on each side.

If you use the M chassis parts, you need the proper size bearings for the knuckles. If you want to use CVDs, It appears a standard Tamiya touring car length would do the trick.

Yeehaw!

I was able to file a very small amount off my c's and my 1.55's fit without rubbing.

Thought about that as well. How about a wide tread kit? They add 3-4mm per side by pushing the wheels out on longer axles and hex fittings.

that would also work as long as you dont mind the added width. In my case I only had to file a small amount, if it was more i would have used a widener.

The stock plastic rims will rub big time, but you should be fine with aftermarket 1.55 beadlocks.

I've got some Tamiya M04 Giulia wheels I want to use. As mentioned, I'm looking to avoid the usual route/expense of beadlocks. (Though the Junfacs are pretty affordable!)

I love my 1.9 Topcad/Integy beadlocks. Just want another option.

I have a set of the GMade beadlocks and they are awesome. Never came unlocked and they took plenty of abuse. They are easily the best beadlocks for the price.
