Paint stock wheels?

Hi all. Long time lurker here, but just got a CC01 Bronco. I kinda like the kit's stock wheels, but the silver is a little too shiny for me. I'm thinking of painting them gray or black. Has anyone done this, and if so, can they point me towards a picture? I'm having a hard time picturing it.

If you want to paint them black, use Plasti-Dip. If you don't like it, you can just peel it off.

To tone down the flashy bling chrome, hit them with some flat clear. They will look like unpolished alum when they dry.

If you're going to paint them a different color, I would strip the chrome off, then paint. If they're black under the chrome, then you don't even have to paint them.

I masked off the edges and painted just the centers gloss black, and then used a sharpie to touch up the bolts. Looks great.

I'm currently running the stock CC-01 Pajero wheels on my Hilux crew cab. I did no prep to the wheels. I just painted flat black right over the chrome. No issues in the several years since I did this.

Thanks guys! Great suggestions. I know I have some Tamiya acrylic flat black around so I may give that a shot.
