| LCC motor and esc choices...
hey guys i decided that i don't want to get the Night Crawler cause i'd really like to get the DIG setup and the LED's looked cheesy...lol. what motor are you guys running? i was looking at the 21.5T brushless set up from Losi but i haven't even converted my 1/10th scale buggy to brushless yet cause of all the setup, $$$ and me generally not knowing how they work...lol. Also what servos? i know i'll need something stout for the steering but can you pretty much get away with anything cheap for the DIG? PS: I need 30 posts so i can see the classifieds all ready!!! i'm on like 30 other sites that don't have that rule... |

I've run both brushed and brushless in mine. My brushless is the Goat 18.5. It is perfect for this crawler. My brushed was the rooster crawler with a 55t motor. It works good as well just doesn't have the wheel speed. I personally don't care about wheel speed. I wanted power to get me out of those tough spots and the brushless gave me that. As far as steering servos go, get as strong as your wallet will allow. I'm at 400 in oz. and it's perfect. When you get wheel bind you need as much help as you can get. The recommended losi servo for the dig is a cheap and good servo.

Im running the goat 3s and a 21.5 turn. It works great and does not make any components hot. Plenty of power and wheel speed.

The LRP Crawler combo (21.5) is reasonable at $180 or so. Check it out on Stormer.

A 13.5 on 3s and Mamba max Pro would be perfect IMO.

Right now I'm running a Goat 3s with my old E-Maxx motor/12t pinion on 2s's an 3s's. Works really good, I used it with an old Traxxas speed control and 2s's for awhile and was happy too. I have a Novak Brushless Ballistic Crawler motor on pre-order!

I got Goats' 2s setup with their 18.5T brushless Crawler motor and a 14t pinion. Running 2000mah 2s LiPo packs @ 30+ minutes of run time. Motor runs cool so long as you don't power thru binds consistently. Tons of power and great wheel speed. |

Im running the 21.5T team orion vortex BL crawler combo with a 13 T pinion,i am not the happy owner of a lipo battery yet but i will be soon. Run-time and temperatures are perfect using regular 4500ma batteries, however since i got my truck ambient temperatures here in Denmark have been pretty low but i am confident summer temperatures wont be a problem. In all fairness i should mention this is my #1 RC car,but i have a friend who is a RC addict so in the past 20 years or so i have gotten plenty of experience helping him with his stuff. |

With one servo, shouldn't need an external BEC. I should mention I am a speed junkie with my crawlers. 35t (17.5 equivelent) on 3s just didn't seem fast enough in the LCC |

I have also gone through a gambit of motor esc combos. I started with the novak brushed 45t, and I smoked it in a comp! Then I went to a sensorless Lrp brushless, but it started cogging and wouldn't crawl. I then proceded to burn up another 45t novak, 2 35t integys, and a 21t titan. This truck doesn't like the way I drive it in comps!!! BUT I finally put a goat 3s and a 18.5t, and it has ran strong for 2 weeks. Now I keep blowing cv pins, but at least they aren't expensive. I want the Losi setup, but it hasn't been available, so The Novak has proved to be the best!!! |

Another vote for the Novak Goat 3S and 21.5T crawler motor Running the motor with a 17 tooth pinion. Great torque at the low end and decent wheel speed on 3S batts. I couldn't be happier. Was running the 18.5T w/ 13 tooth pinion and found that the 21.5T gets out of binds a bit smoother with less throttle and wheel speeds between the two are very close with the pinion combinations I've run.
