Default Mamba Max Pro motor options.. opinions wanted.

I am starting to shop for a replacement for the FXR - 35T combo that I have been running. I have not had any problems with this setup but would like more power. If I were to use the Mamba Max Pro what motor would be a good match? I will be running on a 3S lipo and may even toy with a 4S.

Anyone think that this is a better way to go or should I just bite the bullet and get the losi setup?

I was talking to one of the CC guys at iHobby and he was saying his choice was the MMpro and a Novak 21.5 crawler.

The setup I've got coming is the MM Pro, Castle BEC and the Novak 21.5 Crawler...going with the 14T pinion.

I got the motor used, but got the BEC and MMP from CKRC for $138.93 shipped.

I've ran both the 21.5 and 18.5 Novak crawler motors also started out with the Goat 3S before the MMPro came out and I feel the Mamba is a much better contoller. My current setup is an 18.5 Novak with the 14mm rotor, Castle BEC, 3S with a 12 tooth pinion. I get about 25 minutes of runtime out of 1350 lipo's.

The hyperion motor is just what I could get ahold of easy. The build is nearly identical to other inrunners. The only differences may be the rotor diameter. Otherwise the construction is the same (and dare I say it?) the parts interchange with many Roar style motors out there.

why does everyone keep saying novak motors so much? there's a ton of sensored motors out there: LRP, Losi, Fantom, trinity, etc...etc...etc...etc.. why the fanboi following for just novak? not dissing, just asking to learn

Love to hear your opinions on this setup, as well as the MMPro ESC. I'm getting sick of waiting for Losi to release there updated crawler combo. Not to mention that Hyperion motor looks and awful lot like the Losi motor. Maybe Losi is rebadging?

Is there a reason that everyone always goes sidewinder for brushed motors and MM Pro for brushless? I know sidewinder doesn't support sensored brushless so that makes sense, but MM pro should be just as good for brushed right? Is it just the additional cost of the MM Pro? Seems like your saving yourself an upgrade down the road just to go ahead and start with the MM Pro.

The MMPro was just released. Before that, the sidewinder was your option for a Castle brushed ESC.
