Default Brushed motor.

I was reading the tips/ tricks section and I remember seeing that the tekin 55t motor was listed there, now it is not. LOL. I went out and bought a Tekin 55t, can I still use it with this rig and not have too many problems?

55t is way to slow for a Comp Crawler. You'll need a good quality brushed motor if you want to run brushed, and no slower than 35t, otherwise you just won't be able to get wheel speed. Holmes Hobbies Torquemaster is a good choice.

I was looking at that or my friend was going to give me a Traxxas Titan motor but I think its a 12t, isn't that too fast for it?

With the right pinion it will work but it will most likely let the smoke out.

Should I just get a HH Torque Master 35t then? Would that be a good choice?

Pro Lite V2 Lipo 1350 mAh 3s 11.1V, or should I just look into buying a Novak Goat system for it?

Then I would go with 30t but do some searching around in the LCC threads and see. I was running the Holmes 30t till I got a sweet deal on a Mamba max pro then picked up a brushless motor.

Motors my Losi has claimed.

Motor--------------Seen smoke from motor---------still running.....
1. Novak 55T-------------yes--------------------------yes
2. ??? Outrunner----------yes--------------------------no
3. Titan 21T----------brushes exploded-----------------no
4. Titan 21T---------brush arm broke off----------------no
5. Trinity monster 550-----yes--------------------------yes
6. Novak ballistic 21.5-----yes--------------------------yes
7. Novak ballistic 18.5---not yet, still using------------------

I pitty the motor that goes in a Losi.
At every comp there is always one guy who starts freaking out and says " Smoke smoke, unplug the battery".... I just say, aahhhhhh, thats normal.
Dont get me wronk though, I love my LCC. I just ordered another one.

"Looks around for MR. T"

I had
35t HH
21t brush emax motor
18.5 goat brushless
two HH cobalt pullers on an MOA.

Like Shaggybob said 30t -35t HH are great brushed motors. The 21t emax motor got warm fast. My favorte for a shafty LCC has been the brushless 18.5 goat on 3s. My MOA LCC rocks with the 500 pullers and 3s.

Mr. T is too busy playing WOW and handing out mohawks!

I am pretty happy with my current Novak crawler 21.5 and a 12 tooth pinion. Motor runs around 140 on 3S. If I go up even to a 13 tooth pinion, motor temps go up dramatically. According to Novak up to 175 is safe but no more than that.

I agree with the other posts on here.

I am running a HHH 35t on a 3s lipo and a 12t pinion. Sure works good. No stalling and OK wheel speed.

I still have all my factory smoke in the motor and I have been using it hard this past couple of months. It has gotten hot after about 40min of running though. That is as long as my battery last. Not to bad for a 2200mah.

What 2200 battery are you running that fits?? Is it 3s? I found a 1500 3s turnigy that fits perfectly but have not found anything bigger. What do you mean you have made that motor actually smoke? I am running a 25 HH and don't have much wheel time on it but it does not get hot at all, lil warm but nothing to worry about. Also running a 12 pinion and have plenty of wheel spped and low end torque.

I have not seen a 2200 but here's a 2600. I plan on getting one of these soon.

Alright there has been a change of pace, lol, I might be getting a mamba max esc in a trade and now I have to find a brushless motor for it, can I use the Novak Crawler Motor 18.5t or is there another motor that will work with this esc?

My post said that I have NOT let any of the smoke out The 2200mah 3 cell does not fit very well. It is too long. It is mounted on the upper links and up onto the front of the tranny. I had to remove the factory mount. I have a bunch of them, so I am just using what I have for now.

I tried the mamba max with a 17.5 Haker. It stalled very bad and at low speeds it still coged. I wasn't happy with it. I think it will still take a sensored motor for the brushless to work correctly. Just my opinion.

Honestly dude I know jack shit about brushless motors and esc's, I am just going by what a few friends of mine are telling me. Is there a difinitive source online like a guide Brushless motors that you can point me to and i can learn?

I learned a lot from here.
Definitive ESC, MOTOR, and BATTERY threads - RCC's top tech threads!

The rest I learned from just reading in the electronic threads.

Hope this helps.
