Default Horrible rear pinion wear.

Ok i am running 15t 48 pitch losi pinion on the front of my crawler and i have been running 14t 48 pitch Robinson Racing pinions on the rear, i have stripped, or just about stripped 4 pinions on the rear axle and my losi pinion is still in good condition.Blc re-gears are wearing about the same, still on first set. Are losi pinions a harder material than the RR or could there be something wrong with my rear end. I have done the whole make the moa bracket parallel with the re-gear and set my mesh right so i'm not sure what to do next other than to order a losi pinion. pinions gears wear isn't to good on the motors either, it seems i clean shavings off of them all the time

the losi pinions are a better material than the robinsons for sure.

Robinson Racing pinions are junk. They are soft and the pitch is close but not quite right. I haven't worn a Losi pinion out yet....but made junk outta the RR ones in no time.

check to see if your MOA bracket is on there square/ level. you might have the gears meshing slightly crooked where they meet because of the MOA kit, i know Jeepial had to do a little shaving on his, but he got it to where his rig ran almost soundless in terms of gears making noise

Yea i leveled the moa bracket and blc re gear out, its about 1/2* off from level, It runs nice and quite with a new gear then it just gets worse and worse every battery pack, it kinda actually bends the teeth in a sense, almost curves them once it has wore off enough material then it just strips them out, i have seriously stripped 4 pinions on my rear, none on the front

then it almost sounds as if the BLC gear is out of round or wobbles on the worm pinion and thats causing the wear

Thats why you have to level the re gear with the moa bracket, because it only has a set screw on one side so it doesn't sit perfectly perpendicular to the axle when you tighten it.

Now thats a complete possibility as well, i have a good year on the these bearings, But my front used to wear as well not as bad though. possibly another tooth so each tooth as a longer lifespan. I went to losi and it still looks good. So i am thinking its the pinion material itself.

The losis seem to be stronger then most. I run all losi pinions an every crawler I have owned, when I go to sell them the junk ones from the kits go back on. They just are that good, that I cant stand to get rid of a 5dollar gear.

Oh. My bad.

I linked to a picture on my website that is only viewable to my club members.

Here it is....

The one on the left is a standard pitch pinion that was inadvertently put in to my Berg by the former owner....the one on the right is a RRP pinion that I replaced it with.....before I figured out they take metric pinions. I ran the one on the left for about 4 hours, I ran the one on the right about 10 feet.
