Default LNC with Savox SC-1256TG servo

I just installed a Savox SC-1256TG servo on my Losi Night Crawler and the horns that come with it are pretty weak. I would like to get the Losi aluminum 25 spline servo arm (LOSA99039) for it. Losi lists it as working for Futaba 25 spline servos but I assume that the Savox 25 spline servo would be the same. Anyone have experience with this servo?

Also, do I need a BEC for this or is it just recommended to get the servo's full power?

Thanks

BEC's are not needed, but highly recommended.

BECs are absolutely needed, especially when using a high torque servo. If not, the servo will draw too much power from the receiver and your radio will brown out and quit working. Depending on your electronics, it may come back on its own, or you will have to turn everything off and back on again. Your 25 spline savox is the same as a 25 spline futaba. I have a buddy that races 1/8th scale buggies and uses futabas, but has a savox as a spare because the horns are the same and the savox is less expensive.

OK, so the BEC allows the servo to draw higher amps than the BEC in the ESC can provide. That makes sense to me. But if amp draw is such a big issue, one might think that the power requirements for such servos might be of interest to anyone using them and that the manufacturers would post such information. I do know that the stock BEC for the LNC is rated at 5V DC, 1 amp max. at 7.2V so I suppose that already I'm starving the servo voltage-wise since it can use 6V.

So the next obvious question is what BEC to get? And how can I set it up (or have it set up for me) to get 6V from my 7.4V LiPo?

Appreciate the help!

Castle BEC

and a castle link can program it, but at the link above jrh will program it at what ever voltage you want
